What is a simulcast?
A simulcast is when a show is shown at the same time - both the original country it's airing at and wherever else at the exact same time.
Places like 'http://www.crunchyroll.com' and 'http://www4.funimation.com/video/' are doing simulcasts of many fan favorite anime shows with english subtitles, which are streaming online on their websites for free.
Crunchyroll simulcasts:
Available to people in the US, Canada, UK, Australia only. (well for now at least until they get more regions)
Crunchyroll both offers -
paid anime membership
$6.95 /month or 59.95 /year for simulcasts.
With this you are able to view their anime on the exact same day as Japan, and in High Definition + no commercial interruption.
free membership:
With this you can view them 1 week after they have aired in Japan, and in Standard Definition, + some commercials.
Funimation offers their same day simulcasts for free on their website, but available to US and Canada only.
Even after the simulcast is over for THAT said episode, you can still view it whenever at your convenience.
