Personally, i think Street Fighter sucks. I just dont like it. Tekken is my game. I grewup with it and hav evry tekken game to date. What do u prefer
Neither. They're both brilliant in their own ways. I'm not sure if this needs a thread but what the heck.
i grew up with tekken.

AND I VOTE FOR SF.
SF in general is more deep, technical and advanced, and offers more competitiveness
Urr.. not really. Street Fighter and Tekken both have a very deep, complex playstyle. Tekken has a lot to do with side-stepping which adds to the complexity. Both are very fast mindgames which take time to learn. I do, in fact, like Tekken more since I'm better at it, but by no means is one of them better than the other.
Uhm, have you played both competitively?
things like p link, double tapping etc and the input accuracy required in sf is amazing.
I prefer Tekken, I don't really like SF because the opponent in arcade mode just spams special moves and I just don't like the player characters at all Wether in Tekken, I like the characters, but I keep losing in that garden area no matter what character in Tekken 6. Must be the Unicorns.
[And this is off topic but I have only played Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection, and Tekken 6, I have also played the console version of Tekken 5.]
I understand that. Yes, Street Fighter is a deep and technical game (I never said it wasn't.) But Tekken has various aspects such as juggling, bounding, the wall game and hi-low mind games. Both have their respective traits that make them both technical games and you can't just say one's better than the other.
Dead or alive is better than both
I also prefer Tekken and I have everyone up to date too. I've been playing tekken my entire childhood, so why not pick Tekken over sucky Street Fighter.

And the aspect of height that determines power and Tekken 6 also has the best graphics of a fighting game as of yet.
mmh i don't get some people point. "never played one--> the one i never played suck" really?
I've played tekken 1,2,3,4,tag,5,dark resurrection and 6 btw.
for street fighter, I've played sf 2,3,4,alpha3,ex plus alpha, ex2plus.
But that's not my viewpoint, I've played SF before, And I've also played games with simmilar style eg. Tatsunoku Vs Capcom.
uhm, tatsunoko vs capcom similar to sf? O.o

Tatsunoko VS Capcom is more like MVC series, 286876382 hit combo (lol) and really fast gameplay
why is there no 'both' option bc i love both games equally, no if i were given a choice of acade fighter to play it'd either be any soul calibur or any of the MVC games
Argh God.. what is this I'm hearing. First off, Dead or Alive is not even close to as good as Street Fighter or Tekken. Sluggish gameplay, crappy characters, poor animation. All the inovation in that game is the large variety of female characters and their overly-bouncy physics. And Tatsunoko vs Capcom (And Marvel vs Capcom at that too.) are way different to Street Fighter, notably the fact that they are less complicated and you can friggin' air block. And FWI, I've played:

DOA's 1,3,4
Tekken's 1,2,3,4,5,5DR,5DRO,Tag,Tag2(Yes at ComicCon) 6 and 6BR.
SF's 1,2 (All reinditions of it) ,3 (I,II & III), Alpha (1,2 & 3), EX (Alpha and 2 plus), 4, Super 4 and Arcade Edition.
Also, I've played MvC (1,2 & 3 and Ultimate 3) and TvC.

So I believe I have a good amount of knowledge on Fighting Games. And I haven't even mentioned Soul Calibur/Edge/Blade, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, King of Fighters and Virtua Fighter, which I have played all - COMPETITIVELY.

(Huff, Puff.) Tired

Tekken is more realistic then Street Fighter, no super moves, really i believe SF has just put random clothes on people and not actual style of fighting. Tekken has Capoiera, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Wrestling and more.
Not another "I state the obvious from what I see quote." (And remember I'm taking neither side here.)
Tekken has an insane juggling system which makes it far from realistic and unblockable charge moves aswell. Street Fighter, too, has a wide range of fighting styles and instead of fitting them in a Gi or other traditional clothing to say "I do this fighting style!" they give their character designs unique clothes and outfits to make them stand out (Again, not saying Tekken don't - Tekken do too; their outfits are just as good)

Elena does Capoiera, Mokoto does Traditional Karate, Juri does Tae Kwon Do and Zangief does Pro Wrestling. So much for the quote above. ¬_¬
Sorry, Tired, have never played SF and i dont plan onto. I just love Tekken and the game is just more graphical then Street Fighter.
You can't judge either game simply because you "Love one", "Think the graphics are better" or "Never played the other". Play both deeply before you give comparisons.
