Well, I'm just seeing if there are any WriMos here! If you don't know, NaNoWriMo is an event held every November, in which participants attempt to write 50,000 word long novels. Those who succeed get various writing related goodies. In past years, they have gotten paperback copies of there novels, complete with custom covers. There was also an option to let the public buy it on Amazon, though the author gains no money. So, talk!

I didn't put this in "Your Creations" because it is not mine. I am but a mere member. If need be, move this to wherever it should go.

EDIT : I feel like Temporal should be doing this.

Why wasn't I notified? Must...find...good...story...to...submit...

I'm so entering. How would I turn in an entry?
i would so enter this if i could, but this isn't in australia i bet, it is called a national competition and i know you aren't in australia.
It says National as in all of the United States. No where does it say international.

I would do this, but I don't think I can write 50,000 words ._. But, I'll keep this in mind.
Actually, a good chunk of the participants are Australian!

-I'm not 100% sure. This is my first year doing it, so I don't have any experience doing it. Try going to the website, which has FAQ, rules, and a forum!
I feel sorry for the judges. All the stories they would have to read.
Good luck to everyone participating!
They have some sort of automatic word-counter thing. I'm really excited for this!
Oh yeah, I remember this, I entered last year and got my book printed. pretty cool, but very hard work.
It's too bad it's not an official publisher, like the ones that sell at Bookstores. That would've been too sweet.
yeah, but trust me it's a massive bragging right, lol. You can go up to people and go ' have you got a published book? no i didn't think so' if someone annoys you.
But it's not really "published" in the sense that you worked really hard and where 1 out of 1,000,000. I mean, you can publish your book for a fee on Amazon, no matter how good.
yes, but i mean its a braggin right to actually write it, and then get it made into a proper unique book.
Wait, so does everyone who enters get a book published? Or just one person? Or a few?
I think it really depends, if the book is good, then they make it, if it is utterly unbearable to read I think they don't, I don't exactly remember.
No, I think that as long as you reach 50,000 words, they'll publish it.
That's how I understood it. Just a few more weeks!
I've been doing this for the past three years, started in '08.

I finished my novel that year, titled "Reverie". Attempted it again in '09 and failed because I didn't have a solid novel idea to work with so I gave up. I also did it last year and completed that book, called "The Strength to Let Go", and I'm already doing pre-writing for my entry this year, which I'm tentatively calling "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

It's a great exercise for anyone who is interested in writing, in any form.
I think for this, I won't be using one of my "more important" ideas. As in the ones I will be working on for a while. Now to think of ideas, characters, plots, plot twists, and much more! Oh, the joy Smile

Hah, I've been talking about it with my Literature teacher. She said she'd be my editor of sorts while I got the plot done. I was gonna ask Sparta if he was interested, too. I'm trying to get a writing club established so we can turn in a bunch of entries and show that our school CAN be successful at something. (Especially in light of the main show, the 1-3 football team...)
Hah! Apparently, they want you to only do the writing in November. No editing. They said that your inner writer may feel wrong doing so, but your inner writer is a nitpicky jerk. I'm glad you're joining! On another note, since I'm doing "Seishin Jotai" for my entry, which I always imagine as Anime/Manga, I've got a friend working on a Manga-style cover for my copy. What can I say? I want it to look half decent.
Ah, then I'll likely submit Where the Angel Sings. Looks like an anime-based book will be beating yours out, huh? (Kidding. You're a damn good writer.) As for a cover, I actually was working on one. It had the title across the middle in a soft blue with while feathers strewn about. The actual cover's color itself, however, I'm working on.
Say what? Did you want me to edit for you?

Is that even legal? Hah, I think it's cheating. I'm just ecstatic because my partner for the tournament, DrigerMV, is entering too!

I'm going to submit Dystopia, as I haven't really done much with the idea yet. I'm going to clean up the idea, brush off the dust, and use that as my entry. 50,000 words? No problem.
Nah, I was just gonna ask if you were gonna enter. Just hit 23,404 words. Also-That E-Mail you get for registering is funny.
I though you had to start writing the 1st of November...?
Actual writing, yes. Using a notebook and a Rich Text document for random scenes I think of, no. It's really not even in order, and the grammar needs some work. Eh, I'll get to that Nov. 1st, but for now, I'm just making sure inspiration doesn't escape.
