Making sure that at least 1 moderator was online at ALL TIMES.
the thing is some changes must be done.. avoid bad threads avoid some offensive posts and threads.. have bigger control... delete the all closed threads too... because the customizations thread is full of losed threads what makes more dificult for us to search..
moderator online at all times, just in case offensive threads are posted and need to deleted ASAP
Closed threads don't take up that much space. Some threads are closed for a reason. For example, if it's a product thread then more info might be needed. Other threads might be closed because no further discussion is needed and the thread maybe considered "finished".

Not allowing new members to post images until after 48 hours after account creation.

At that rate though we would only get a maximum of ten members a month, hah.

Hey, well its's somewhat better than having over a thousand members per month posting nothing but spam, getting warned, and being banned!

(Disclaimer; That was not meant to rhyme...)

but think... wouldn't it be unfair to the children who want to play beyblade and participate in tournaments? as the saying goes, "Let kids be kids". the test is not fair to the younger group. It's like asking a 2 year old to do the taxes every month... or asking a 8 year old to do Advanced Placement physics.....
i aggree with skyprince.. but seriously WBO needs to find a way to avoid bad threads and spam... i´m really getting pset with all the misleading information.. posts off-topic and the worse : threads about bad customizations saying that is awsome without providing tests.. or even worse.. people creating a topic just to get us to build them a combo.. this needs to stop! all i see is closed threads...
yeah, i used to be one of those people who would make a thread about a specific combo.....
but i learned my lesson along the road... like i said, "let kids be kids". they'll learn their lesson... they're just kids... why get mad at a kid who doesn't know what he's doing? kids around 8 usually don't have their common sense yet. plus, "there is no better experience than the experience itself". same thing with testing. you don't know if a combo is good until its tested. Let them find out for themselves y their thread was closed or why they were given warnings... they have no reason to complain if it's clearly written in the community rules... rules are rules? am i right? its their own fault if they didn't read it...
Since a lot of people see the constant spam threads and comments a problem here, why not make it so that new accounts have a "trial period" where they can't create new threads (except for the Introductory section and Area theads) for a certain amount of time. Then once that time is up they will be granted full member abilities (creating threads, writing up drafts, proposing events). In theory it should cut back on a lot of pointless threads, while teaching them how to use the Search function adequately.
hmmm, but that is indeed IN THEORY... but that does not mean that is what will happen in fact. like i said, "there's no better experience than the experience itself". how are they going to learn from "watching" if they're not making the mistakes themselves. you learn best from your own mistakes than the mistakes of others. It may be annoying but you have to deal with it. honestly, i deal with it all the time. and i'm pretty sure all the mods know this but it takes EXTREME patience to run a website such as a community forum.

I did.
hmmm, yeah, i guess.... but that's usually not the case with all people. my point is that we're going to encounter people all the time who spam or post unnecessary and supplementary threads... if they do it, let the mod take care of it and end of story. if they complain, the mod will explain their wrongs and they'll learn from it. so it's a half and half. They learn from watching people post and they learn from their mistakes. remember, we're different and we learn on different levels and ways. (i know, i partially contradicted my last post... but this i really what i meant to say, i just didn't know how to say it)

so shouldn´t we have a Portuguese Forum? it´s the seven language more talked in the world! portuguese is talked on Brazil Portugal and SOUTH AFRICA! all south africa!! we really should have a Portuguese Forum... i think that´s a change that should be made... i´m Portuguese.. Dan is an older member and is Portuguese member.. and i´m sure there´s a lot of brazilian and MAYBE african members too.. but Brazil is a great country! and our language is too...
My favourite change would be setting up a script to seek out Blader Richie like behaviour patterns, and auto ban users who are too similar/sock accounts. If it doesn't get overloaded from that, we could set it up to auto-warn users who ask common questions and such. I think I've seen something similar done before (maybe anti-vandal scripts on wikipedia...). If it's possible, that is...

More realistically, built in spellcheck.

If you think we should have a Portuguese forum, you could try posting a petition thread like the Italian Bladers did and have all of the Portuguese members post in it so we can gauge how much interest there really is.
Just a thought that will probably never happen. Every year there would be a day where a certain amount of members who are randomly selected, get to experience being a mod (using mod tools, issuing fake warnings, etc.). Not saying this should happen thpough, just a thought floating around my head.
A daily/weekly limit on posting in the off topic forum.

I've noticed that some users have a majority of their posts in the off topic forums. To keep a focus on Beyblade, since that's what the forum is for, maybe we should have a daily/weekly limit on how many posts you can make in the off topic section of the site. That should cut back on spam, or at least useless conversation. It would encourage users to concentrate more on Beyblade.

I'm going to be bluntly honest -- this is a terrible idea.

If we were going to limit how and where users could post, we might as well not even have a general forum. It's not surprising that most discussion occurs in the General forums; there's simply more things to talk about.

Although I have thought of something similar, though unrelated, wherein we would put a week's posting restriction on all new members to help cut back on the amount of spam and to, hopefully, force users to "learn the ropes" of properly using message boards so there won't be as many posts/threads in wrong forums, etc.

My idea might not be the best idea, but if the general concept of limiting spam can be used in another method, I think it would be an amazing improvement. Either way, I think the WBO could benefit from some form of limitation.

Moreso than posting but to limit topic creation among new users would probably be a good route.

I hope you don't mind me jumping into this, I agree with Roan; and the warning/report system are both "fair" systems to deal with spams already; even for the long term members, etc.
I personally would like a push notification for iphone/black berry/android users.

I'm pretty sure they will be doing that, and it is already planned to do so.
But it is happening more frequently
