Ok, so a lot of us on here play games on our computers. Whether we're playing Emulators, Beta's, Hacked games, Etc. We have a choice for our gameplay options. We have the choice between using a Gamepad, or a Keyboard. So, which do you guys prefer, a pad, or a keyboard? And elaborate as to why.

Personally, I use a keyboard, but only because I don't have a gamepad. I plan on buying a gamepad soon though, since it's getting a bit irritating playing hacked games with a keyboard. I just think that it's a bit uncomfortable, which is why I wanna get a gamepad.

Apparently, you can get gamepad's that look exactly like SNES controllers. XD
I have the same reason as you Bey-Heart, I just simply don't have a gamepad. Plus I think I'm too adapted to the keyboard, haha. The main reasons that I don't have a gamepad are because I don't have the money, and I have no clue how to connect them to my PC nor where to get them... But I mostly play Minecraft (Hacked), and occasionally a ROM or two, and I'm perfectly fine with Minecrafts controls, and on all my emulators I can set the controls to whatever I want, so there is really no use for me getting a game pad. EDIT: This is in need of a poll!
I use an xbox 360 controller for works of warcraft paired with xpadder. It may not be as efficient, but it's fun if you know how to set your macros for your toon.
- Hah. I plan on getting a gamepad soon, though. I just think it would be so much easier playing my SNES roms with an SNES controller.

Anyways, Gamepads plug in through USB, and I'm pretty sure they come with instructions for how to get them to work.
I use a keyboard. I guess that using a computer for years got me adapted to it. I must say, though, that using it for a Pokemon Ruby ROM was kinda complicated. Tongue_out For those kinds of things, I prefer the actual console/controller, so I might invest in a GamePad sometime soon. Then again, they are quite the pretty penny...

Not really. They're usually $10-$20. That's actually pretty cheap compared to console controllers.
I use both, but always go with keyboards for PC games over a controller if I have an option.

That said, I do agree with what Todd Hollenshead and John Carmack have said about developing games that will end up on both the PC and consoles: "Porting games from the PC to the console is doing things backwards".

Or you can actually use a console controller like I do so you only have to buy one and you can use it for two things.
Keyboards, Defenitly. Ahh. Emulators. I used to be obsessed with those things.
I think that keyboards are more used. we're using 'em right now! and if they weren't made. damn would the world be dull(and maybe fingerpaining caused by the squashed fingers while using a controller
For Project 64 and Dolphin I use a Nintendo 64 controller. For everything else keyboard.

I can't. I don't have an Xbox or a PS3. I have a Wii, so I can't do that.
I prefer Gamepad, namely my pre-slim 360 USB controller. Played well with Phantasy Star Online back when I was on the Ultima Server last summer. I now play keyboard on Mabinogi, but given the chance, I'd play with a controller if they change it up.

Like Dungeon Fighter Online.
