It's apparently a DS game that took 5 years to make, and it was made by one guy.
I'm not quite sure what it is, actually. It could be real, could be viral ad. Don't believe what all the videos say, because as part of the story on the site, he was abducted by aliens...
Does anyone else know what I am talking about and can enlighten me?
Oh, the site is

www.bobsgame.com
Bob is an overgrown baby who threw a giant fit when Nintendo said they wouldn't publish his game.
He locked himself in his room for 100 days, and continuously getting weirder and stranger.

I haven't checked his site in about 2 months.

edit: to make a quick correction, he threw a fit when Nintendo didn't REPLY to him (I guess he thought it was taking too long).
It wasn't til the middle of his temper tantrum that they finally sent their response (It was 'No thanks!')

sums it up

edit: lol just saw the site..was a viral carp add the whole time
i honestly hope he dies, no joke
I think it's a bit more than that....Plus, I would be pissed if I worked on this game for 5 years and the company I admired my whole life wouldn't even give me the time of day.
Has anyone actually followed the story? The site has been getting small updates all day (a link here, a small comment there). Plus, check the Page Source, there is a hidden message.
if there's a hidden message in the page source this is definitely viral marketing

kudos if it is

i followed in december - january
he was bitching the whole time
btw. there's hidden text. highlight the page
The hidden message is
THiS iS THE FUTURE

Repeated tones of times. I wonder if the lowercase "i"s have to do with anything? In stage 95's video, there is an alien eye in the last second of the movie, plus the "i"s now...somehow it's connected, but I've tried all sorts of variations on the URL based on eyes, ii, eye, etc.

The hidden text on the page is just the descriptions of what each link is, and at the bottom is the same stuff thats been there forever. It's not meant to be hidden, you can see it if you look. Here's the stuff from though

I respectfully respect all corporate overlords with all due r-e-s-p-e-c-t, find out what it means to me.
Any similarities to persons living or dead, or zombies living and undead, or actual places, companies, institutions, or alien spacecraft is purely coincidental, unless it isn't.
How can Yuu even sue me in space, anyway?

"bobsgame.com" is a web game by a guy named "bob" about a DS game by a guy named "bob" about a virtual game by a virtual guy named "bob" called "bob's game," which is a work of fictional satire about games where you play games in the game.

I don't know about the last statement though...

Back in like.. August, someone joined the SomethingAwful forums and made a topic in the Games section (same day they joined I believed), about their friend Bob, and how they made a game ALL by themselves over the span of like 5 years.
It didn't go very far, nobody really cared about his story, which basically equated to "MY FRIEND IS PRETTY SMART! HE WANTS HIS GAME PUBLISHED!"

It wasn't until a few months later when I heard that Bob had actually sent in a request for a DS developers kit. Which I believe costs several thousand dollars.
After a while, Bob got really upset that he wasn't getting replied to (saying that with all the shovelware on the system already, Nintendo shouldn't have to think twice about allowing his QUALITY RPG title to their system.

Eventually he decided to have a protest and lock himself in his room for 100 days, saying that this would prove a point, and that Nintendo would see the errors of their ways and accept him.

The guy was a nutjob, he trashed his room, and then decorated it in tin-foil and shiny lights and said he was on an alien spacecraft (I guess deciding to make the whole thing this big joke, or game)
I stopped caring, it wasn't very funny.
Uh, now I've lost the game. That hasn't happened in a while. Tired
DANG IT ROCKY! HAVEN'T LOST ALL DAY!

I just saw this at the bottom of the page. That pretty much proves it isn't real.
EDIT: Disregard that, didn't see the quote box for some reason....

Anyway, I still think that more will come from this. Even if Yuu don't. (XD)
I haven't payed attention to this for a while, but after looking around at some of the latest stuff he has posted, I've become interested again.

I don't fully understand everything, but it is clear that he is trying to prove something. From what I understand, "Bob's game" is some sort of game inside of a game, or game about a game (or the game industry?), which could be classified as a "meta-game". Has something like that ever really been done before?

Whether or not this "game" is ever released (or was ever created), there must be a purpose behind it all.

Have you guys watched these?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh, it's as if he is merging events that happens in real life and with the actual "game". Confusing!

Yes, it's called an ARG (alternate reality game). Halo did it with I Love Bees.
Yeah, these last few "Stages" have been quite important to the story. I actually mentioned stage 95 previously. Look at the page source for me and see what you come up with, Kei!

I'm not convinced it's an ARG, but I'll send it to ARGN and see what they think.

It could be, but what game could it be associated with? It seems as if the actual game "Bob's game" relates to the game industry itself, specifically Nintendo. What type of game could ever be related to this that was supposed to be officially released on any platform?

I liked Bob's game more when it was just about a guy who spent five years developing a game and wanted it published. Unhappy
went to the site, it crashed safari. tried it again, same thing happened

guess bob doesn't want me playing his game
LOL!
