Even though I did not finish the series in its entirety, practically every episode had me laughing. However it is not the "random-so-it's-gotta-be-funny" kind of humor.
A bit dark considering all the other stuff Nick has on their line up.
I still remember my mom saying "Don't watch this. It's too hysterical.".
I've watched like two episodes of this. Pretty funky, and like you said it is pretty abnormal, for a Nick show.
Also, this past summer I bought this crazy mint tin that was Invader Zim themed, but the mints sucked badly.
I never really watched in back when it was out, and now I sort of regret not doing so. I still don't think it was that great, but it was still pretty unique as respects stuff from Nick.
i liked it when i was younger.., but looking back I kinda think its a little creepy/dark for a kids show.

It was ridiculously dark for a Nickelodeon show. Remember the episode where Keef gets his eyes removed? Still, good show. I loved it when I was 12 or so.
Out of Jhonen's works, I prefer Johnny or I Feel Sick; but a great television show nonetheless. It has character, for sure, but the jokes and gags just seem too overused if you've read Squee.
I remember I used to love this show I still watch it on youtube sometimes lol I saw a commercial a few days ago saying the first 2 seasons are out on dvd. I'm definitly buying those lol but yeah I think that it's a bit odd when you think that they let this on nick. especially because the guy who created invader zim was also the same exact guy that wrote johnny the homicidal maniac lol. but yeah I love the show especially the waffle episode andepisode 5
Brilliant show, but some of the themes are insanely dark.
Especially dark harvest (Zim believes to be more human, more human organs are needed), with a machine that switches humans organs with random objects, Zim ends up a gargantuan beast with multiple lungs, kidneys, and several spleens of assorted size and color...
How on earth did they let it go on for as long as it did!?
