The next Bleach game for home-console and also the first one to be released on PS3.

This game looks freakin' awesome, man, and it also plays awesome (I played the demo) The entire game was kinda vague, up until very recently, where they some more details have been made public.

-High-Quality PS3 Videos with full animation (Which is different from pretty much all the other games)
-A story mode of the entire Arrancar arc (That probably means from around the time they invade Las Noches to Aizen's downfall)
-Many, many characters.
-Awesome gameplay with no framerate slowdown (Unlike Fable 3, then?)
-Simple controls anyone can pick up and play
-An original anime introduction video made by Studio Pierrot

For those who don't know, Studio Pierrot is responsible for Opening 19 of Bleach which, while not my favourite, is still really, really good.

Needless to say, I am going to buy the hell out of this game. Imported from Japan and bought here in America, if it gets dubbed. An official release date for Japan's been announced, which is June 23 of 2011.

What do you guys think?
Studio Pierrot is the animation studio responsible for all of the non-sent to Korea Bleach animation, as with Naruto.

What does Tite Kubo have against the Xbox 360?
It's more a matter of what Japanese in general have against the 360, I believe.

I bought every home-consoles exactly not to have that kind of problem (Running into a game that looks really good and not being able to play it) and it's a good investment, if you ask me.

Besides, they're not that expensive, these days.

Xbox 360 was outsold by PS2 last week in Japan.

Actually it speaks poorly for the PS3. The last gen console should never outsell the next gen version, but the PS2 has consistently done exactly that.

Well it's becuase all the classic games it sales But i would rather buy a PS3 than Any old freaking PS2 With like 2-D graphics & no Mario or Nitendo involved so that's my conclusion.

PS2 hasn't outsold the PS3 in annual sales since like the beginning of 2008.

The sales I gave you for the 360 in Japan are not a testament to the selling power of the PS2, but rather the fact that the 360 is a gigantic bomba in Japan. You know, selling 1500 units a week while your competition does 35, 000 bomba. It's simply not worth it to make a Japan-centric game with any semblance of a budget on the 360.

2D graphics? The heck?

You're complaining about 2D graphics? The PS2 (and all Sony platforms to be honest) wasn't known for its huge library of sprite based games (though it did have many). In fact, ask anyone to name a PS2 game and you'll likely get a 3D game as a response. The PS2 was released in 2000, not 1991.

Were both wrong. Still, look at the number of Japanese games on the Xbox 360. If relatively unknown JRPGs can make it on to the 360, why can't a well known anime game make it on that same system. Bleach is international, and they would make a larger profit if they released it as a multiplatformer, especially on the North American continent.

As for the game, I don't think I'll get a PS3 for it, but I might convince a friend to buy it so I can play it. It sounds like it'll be pretty good. I may be wrong, but I have a good feeling about this one.

I was actually referring to Japanese sales figures. But looking back at it now in October 2008 it was outsold by the PS2 twice. But okay, if you want to play the worldwide game, prior to that quarter, the PS2 last out shipped the PS3 in early 2008.

I'd actually be willing to say the 360 has more higher profile games that the PS3 doesn't have, at least if you keep the Japanese market in perspective. Microsoft spent a huge chunk of change in the development of both Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey. The first was clearly an attempt to make a Dragon Quest type of franchise (even getting Akira Toriyama to do the character designs), and it had extensive media coverage, and cross promotion with anime and manga tie-ins. Yet the game would still sell worse than White Knight Chronicles (a lower budget Level-5/SCE game that was poorly received in Japan). LO was supposed to be Microsoft's Final Fantasy, and that did even worse. Since those games were actually made by the man who created Final Fantasy (Sakaguchi) they expected it to be huge.

Then there's the various money hats Microsoft gave to the Japanese. From Ace Combat 6, Tales of Vesperia (whose PS3 port outsold the entirety of the 360 version's sales in less than a week), Star Ocean IV, to Infinite Undiscovery, and The Last Remnant. Microsoft paid a tonne of money for those games to be just on the 360. The problem was that all of these games were selling a tiny fraction of what they were doing on PS2 dissuading the Japanese publishers from willing to invest in the platform. Couple that with the still poor 360 sales in Japan, and Microsoft abandoned all Japanese support.

You do know who publishes Bleach games on PlayStation platforms, right? It's Sony. They're not going to publish an Xbox 360 game. So any Bleach game on 360 would have to be made just for the 360, and most likely would sell between 5-10k in Japan. Bleach has had the least amount of video games localized of the JUMP Trinity (One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach) by a large margin, and I doubt that's because SEGA and Shueshia hate Bleach game fans.

NIS America has picked up the game, and has a release set for August as Bleach: Soul Resurrección.

I'm just gonna ignore the part about your name...That's just weird.

It's not a fighting game, it's a hack 'n slash. I know it sounds too different, but you really should give it a chance. The demo is really good and it all seems really promising, for now.
So, the game is coming out tomorrow and my EB Games has already recieved my pre-order copy, so, unlike Catherine, I'll actually be able to get it the day it comes out!

Having given into the temptation and bought the Japanese version, I've already played a lot of the game (Though understanding very little) and I can safely say that it's a very fun game. It's certainly not on my top 5, but maybe my top 10. Any Bleach fan will also greatly enjoy this game and probably even more with the english version (After all, the dub is pure ear-orgasm) The characters actually use attacks from the show (As oppose to just making up most of the attacks, like in the fighting games) My only complaint is that the story mode skips over a lot of fights that had, according to me, a lot of potential. I would have loved to use Rukia to fight Kaien and even Glotonneria, that would have been awesome! Or maybe a fight between Byakuya and the lightning-fast Zommari. Or even Szayel against Uryuu. It's not like the size really mattered, either, since there's a Yammy in Ira form fight and Menos Grande as ennemies. But, all in all, it was a great experience.

I can only imagine how awesome it'll be once I understand how the sphere-grid system works (Yeah, there's a level-up system that's pretty much a copy and paste version of Final Fantasy X's Sphere Grid. I just accepted it and moved on)
That looks really fun. I might just buy a PS3 just for Bleach games. Dude, are there any fights featuring Kenpachi Zaraki, that would be a selling feature for me, on top of the gameplay footage.
Yep, there's a very good Kenpachi vs. Nnoitra Jiruga fight (Of course, Kenny pretty much dominates the poor Espada, no matter what difficulty you're on) and you can pretty much use him for every single missions, in Mission Mode, which means around 35 fights, really.

Today's the big day. Gonna play the hell out of it, too XD

EDIT: Speaking of mission mode, it's basically stages where you can earn those little green balls you use in the Sphere Grid system, but also character trophies and sound test (For example, if you fought and defeated Rukia in a mission, you can watch and spin around a little trophy of her, like in Super Smash Bros., and make her say most of the lines her characters says. Pretty fun.)
So, I've been playing the game for... *Looks at the time*... around three hours. It's basically the same game as the Japanese version, except it's in english, making it around twice as better.

Really. I'm such an english voice acting fanboy that I shivered just when I heard Johnny Yong Bosch say "Let's go!" (Which he does at the beginning of every single stage) so this is seriously awesome, for me.

Kokuto, the main villain of the fourth movie (Who is surprisingly a playable character) is also in this version, even if the third movie isn't out yet. I'm about 99.99999% sure that he's dubbed by Crispin Freeman. It certainly sounds a hell of a lot like him XD
You make me want to buy a PS3 just to play this game. Unhappy
If only they could make more Bleach games, preferably for the consoles I have, though on the Wii it would feel kind of silly swinging a remote around like a zanpaktou.

Sorry XD But I do recommend buying a PS3. There's a lot of cool games, on there (Including this one, of course XD)

Also, I have the Bleach fighting game for the Wii, Bleach: Shattered Blade and I can pretty much win any fights by just immitating someone having a seizure (i.e Moving my arms around in an insane pattern)

For some reason, the opening music they use, for the opening of the english version, isn't Melody of the Wild Dance (It might be some weird instrumental of that song, though, not sure) but it's okay, it sounds alright too and I pretty much always skip the opening for every game unless they're really, really good.

Oh and, Soi Fon's attack can actually kill in two hits, like in the manga/anime! I understand why she never could do it, in the fighting games (It would be pretty unfair) but we finally have a character able to kill in two hits killing ennemies in two hits! To my knowledge, the only thing she can't kill that easily is Barragan and...well, she can't really touch him to begin with.
Thats saddening to not get the original Melody of the Wild Dance, that songs amazing to listen to.
Also, does Soi Fon also get her bankai? It would be interesting if she were able to use it, especially since she's my favorite character. Is there anything special you need to do for the two-hit kill? Unless you have to charge up for the attacks or something, it would probably be very over powered.
Soi Fon does have her Giant-Freakin'-Bazooka-Bankai, which you can activate when her 'Ignition Meter' (A little bar on the side of the screen) is full, pressing L2, which actives Ignition mode, and L2 again, throwing the missile.

As for her two-hit kill attack, it can be used throw the Circle button, which makes her do a dash that puts the...butterfly/flower/thing on ennemis she touches and you can just turn around to do the second strike again. Although, after that your Spiritual Energy bar is empty so you have to wait for it to fill again (Around seven seconds of wait) so the best thing to do is to use Suzumebachi on as many ennemies as possible in two strikes and just pound the remaining ennemies after that.

I'm not really sure why they didn't keep the original song, maybe it's a licensing problem, but the instrumental isn't bad anyway.

Also, it's very hard to get good results, on levels. Yes, you're pretty much given grades (C, B, A or S) for how good you were at a stage or mission. The characters will say comments on those grades, too, like, if you get a B with Rukia, she'll say "Meh, I guess that's okay." or a C with Ichigo, he'll say "I can do better than that!" I think you basically have to kill all the appearing ennemies and not...well, die, to get a good score, I'm not sure.
