You're the opposite of me, then. I can't use an attack type to save my life but I'm OK at defending and deflecting other's attacks. It would be so much better for me if London had more attack using bladers lol

Really insane tournament. The Burst metagame is incredible. Valkyrie Spread (or Heavy) Survive emerged as the big bad Beyblade to beat at this event. In hindsight it isn't as difficult to defeat as we might have thought–Wyvern Accel and Survive can do the trick–but in the moment we were all trying to wrap our heads around the idea of a top-tier Attack Layer actually working in conjunction with a top-tier Defense/Stamina Driver against stationary things like Deathscyther Spread Survive. That's not really something that has been seen before. As a result of this, I think the general opinion of Deathscyther has gone down ... yes, it has the best Stamina of any Layer, but if even Valkyrie Spread Survive can Burst Finish it consistently, then it feels even more risky because to use that combo takes arguably less skill than something like Valkyrie Heavy Accel. Therefore, more people will use it. That's not to say that Deathscyther Spread Survive doesn't have a place in the metagame–it certainly still does by virtue of it's Stamina alone–but that there's another reason to second guess your choice of using it now.
Deathscyther Spread Accel is also an interesting one, but I really can only see it being effective consistently when you have a super powerful launch like @[1234beyblade] does. Otherwise, you might not have a pleasant time against other Attack types and you might not be able to outspin Wyvern on something like Survive.

OHHH I'm glad I wasn't the only person thinking of this! Ever since I posted that Survive had better Burst Defense and Defense had better KO Defense and how a sharp tooth Defense Layer could make higher friction Drivers more viable I was thinking of putting Valkyrie as a Defense Layer since it reminded me a lot of this.

I figure this would theoretically beat Valkyrie Heavy/Spread Survive by stalling it out, or does the awkward weight distribution mess up its stalling abilities?
Also what are your thoughts on Claw?

I wouldn't even call it a "Defense Layer" in this case, though. It wins by Burst Finish!

It has no problems stalling, but Deathscyther is a little susceptible for Valkyrie Survive because of its recoil. I lost to Valkyrie Spread Survive using Deathscyther Spread Accel today because of this, and I think Brad did too? Wyvern is a better choice against it. That said, if you are 1234beyblade, you probably wouldn't have any trouble outspinning it without worrying about being Burst Finished right at the end since you would be able to stall Deathscyther for a longer period of time.
As for Claw, I need to spend more time with it. From my limited testing with it, I think it is on par with Survive in terms of Stamina, and maybe has better defense.

Nice, I was hoping you guys would have an interesting winning combo list and you didn't disappoint. I definitely have some new things to test, to say the least. Now add Odin to the mix and it will be a fun week of testing! Expect some new posts in the Burst Customizations forum!

Quote:MFB Format:
I'll explain how i chose the members for each block for the Block Round Robin Format.
I first cut a sheet of paper into 15 small 'cheats'/'bits'.
Each piece of paper had the numbers(in alphabets)1-15(since we had 15 participants) written on it and folded in a manner with which the numbers would not be visible.
Then, we asked all 15 members to choose a cheat randomly. After that was done, we added them into blocks; Block A, Block B, Block C ...
Block A had numbers from 1-4 and 13. Block B had numbers 5-8 and 14, Block C had numbers 9-12 and 15.
Suppose a member got the number 6, he would belong to the B block, if 10 then C block and so on.

The WBO OP Public Tournament Data Archive has been updated with a Winning Combinations sheet for Burst Format for your convenience. Take a look.
WBO Organized Play - Public Tournament Data Archive
View & Download it Here
To download: File -> Download As -> Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)
Two interesting (but unsurprising) statistics:
Also unrelated, but we need some help keeping the other sheets up to date! If you want to update one of the sheets for the other formats, just post here to let me and everyone else now you are working on it. Download a copy of the archive, update the list, send it to me, and I'll update the master archive that's linked to here. Thanks!
I'll post about this in the Organizers' Circle later, but I also spent a lot of time tonight finally updating the Tournament List Archive tab. There's some information missing from that I could use some help with too (particularly the missing participants/total battles numbers for a lot of events).

I can totally imagine Ragnaruk bursting Deathscyther Spread Survive enough to win. Deathscyther's a bit prone to Bursting, and we didn't see a ton of DSS in Toronto because of that.
Oct. 26, 2015 3:46 AM
LOL, it's even better because it was the only combo he won with.
I'm guessing Wyvern Accel couldn't outspin it? And nobody could Burst or KO it?? Wyvern Heavy/Spread Claw/Survive???

Wyvern Spread Survive would've made quick work of it too, probably. If he was using it the whole tournament, you had plenty of time to prepare a counter-attack!
