Not sure if there has ever been a Toronto tournament where each placer used 5+ different (albeit similar) combos throughout the event! Pretty impressive. The metagame in Toronto is pretty well-developed, so it's interesting now to see the nuance in how each Blader chooses to construct their combos and what outliers exist (MSF-L Balro Balro GB145MF) to surprise others amongst the well-established BD145RDF's, SA165EWD's, etc.

Hey, someone used Corona Saber. But why in Left Spin? Looking at my Apollon now it looks more like a Right Spin AR, and considering Circle Survivor only goes Right why choose the direction that gives you a disadvantage? Also Cross Horn in Right?

Also, why 10 Heavy over 10 Balance on the Circle Survivors? Not having Wide Defense is understandable but isn't 10 Balance the go-to sub in most non-Attack situations?

Sorry for all this, but I was actually really looking forward to seeing the Plastics winning combos this year since I couldn't go to an event myself.

how is that return of plastics lol
The SR200 on my brothers Earth Eagle SR200 MB helped deal with low height attackers and also might have possible helped destabilize stamina. Overall I am pleased with that parts performance.
It performed better in left spin, but that must be just with them..
I personally used right spin SG with my coronara saber, the same combo, but it didn't work well. Again that must be just me
I remember th!nk advising me to use 10 heavy instead of balance, on circle survivor. Didn't think much haha, though I did some testings and found heavy to be useful for some reason.
About cross horn, that guy didn't have any other good ARs ^^' so that's why he used it

So much variety of combinations, I love it.

So funny how IOnlyUseQuake actually used Q hahaha. Congratulations to you guys for a successful tournament Smile
Interesting, I never really saw Q as viable outside of weight based combos before.

Hate to break it to you, but honestly I think Q was more of luck or the meta game might've been weird. I wouldn't expect it to do make that much of an impact in other events.

Although congrats to all the placers and everyone who attended that event. Its cool to Virginia coming back into the tournament scene and glad to hear you guys are getting new members. Keep it up!

I really doubt it's the metagame at fault here. Q doesn't have much in the way of good and bad matchups in my experience, more just very precise launch needs for every possible situation. Maybe IOnlyUseQuake was lucky and their opponents played exactly how they expected. Maybe they really knew how to read said opponents. Whatever the case, if they could do well with Q once, I'd expect to see them do so again. Maybe not in the near future but some day.
apparently anything's competitively viable if you're strong enough
by the end of the day tho, that damn dragon of his had spilled the blood of others' beys, itself, and its master

Kerbeus Heavy Accel

It's been talked about elsewhere a little bit, but what stood out the most to me at this event was the prevalence of Heavy almost universally among the top Bladers (which at least as far as Stamina/Defense is concerned, confirmed what I had found via testing before the event), and discovering what makes Valkyrie unique when compared to Spriggan: it's lower recoil and greater Stamina. I was also surprised to see Blasterjoker1 able to find success with Survive: in my testing I found Defense to be just a little bit better.
Kerbeus accel? You crafty devil you... Yeah, heavy seems like the only disk to use at all so far. Spread and central hold up a little bit on Spriggan, only against other attack types though. I personally have found defense to be the worst. With fusion and survive being a bit better. Defense seems to just sit there and get beat on, where fusion especially, gets more movement and helps hit back a bit
Hopefully some of the new disks coming out will balance the game out. I figured when Burst was coming out that Kerbeus would be good. Though I remember reading somewhere that it wasn't necessarily great, it was just used a lot. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, it seems we have the early foundations for the Burst metagame, which is really exciting!
Kerbeous survive works really well if you power launch the bey in the beystadium as I found out when I was playing with the combo in the tournament.survive works really well with heavy because of the weight, however it does lose balance really easily due to the launch and weight given. Kerbeous has a good defence when in a BeyBattle again combos like Spriggan heavy accel or other varients.the only flaw for the combo that I found out was of course the burst gimmick that all the bey's have now that the game has changed, it is all luck when you play with the new bey and the latest format. But overall kerbeous has a great defence with heavy survive in my opinion and I was lucky to have used this combo and win this tournament.
