Oh wow.. How long did the tournament drag on for?

No kidding... that must've been torturous for the Judges. You can heat two hot pockets and get halfway through a third in the time a Phantom versus Phantom on BGrin match takes to end.

Lol. 800 watt oven or 1100?

Clearly attack was either not prominent or not skillfully used.

1) I figured CS was used, I should have checked haha.
2) Yeah, which is exactly why I am endorsing CH120.

Put a CH120 endorsement in your signature so you can just stop following me around yelling "CH120 NOT R145" when the two combos serve different purposes. Getting to be tiresome, to be entirely honest. I am more than thoroughly aware.

I personally own a 1000 watt, and it gets them done just right in two minutes.

Oh wow, all Phantom Orion BD combos... that's crazy cool, I guess. Did anyone use attackers?

Whole tournament lasted about 2 hours. The final match was 5 mins long. Ill post video tomorrow. Match lasted so long i had time to do push ups.

Only 1 attacker and not succesfully used. I didnt use my attacker.

I'm sorry you felt so offended.

What 'different purposes' are those, exactly..? I'm certain both are intended to Knock Out other combinations..
R145 does better against High Track. CH120 does better against Mid Track. With the advent of Phantom, High Track usage is at an all-time... uh... vertical... statistical... presence...

R145 is the single most used track on Vari right now. Coincidence? Hmm...

You're not offending, annoying is the better word for it. It's not like more than a hundred of your posts contain you saying "CH120 IS GOD TIER" and I read every single post made in the Customizations and Advanced forum every single day, or anything.
personally I like Vari Aries on R145 better. I got better results with it during free play today and last night with it. But Ch120 is amazing. Ill give it that.
Ok so Galaxy4Stars won the tournament with these combos today at the Holiday Hammer

MF-L/H VariAresCH120RF (Dan gonna smile now Wink )

MF DuoUranusBD145MB (I made that combo when he asked me what Duo combo should he use. This was during free play)

MF/H BlitzUnicorno85R2F (His so called "wife")

And I lol'd when he kept spammin the Duo combo, thus, making him undefeated until I used my VariAres against his Blitz in the finals. It was a hella match. But for the 2nd and 3rd, idk, I left right before Galaxy started to play in the real finals. And he just texted me his combos. I'll wait till Mr.Arupaeo comes Smile. I'm kind of exicted to use Duo in tourneys now LOL.
I would use CS over MB on it, it lacks the weight that MB needs to be useful. Also, Uranus isn't a particularly balanced CW.

I sincerely hope that someone recorded the match between you and Galaxy. CONGRATS GALAXY! Especially for using attack and not spamming stamina! Real skill lies here.

BD145CS is bad though...I mean, think of it this way, one good left spin combo, lets say someone used Meteo CH120XF OR LDD CH120XF, the CS would have been a complete joke and it would never outspin that. With MB, you have a chance plus it can be aggressive. Also, that balance isn't always necessary because just like Basalt, the unbalanced nature can work out for it and topple on the opponent to ensure OS at the end.
True, but I find Uranus as a destablizing CW. It gets under its oppoent and you can see spin stealing or making the opponent off balance. But other wise he was just undefeated with it like a boss while drinking Root Beer lmao. And the MB was brand new fresh out of the box. Maybe that was useful? Also all of our CS's was mostly aggressive, we thought it was kind of risky to use it on Duo. I used mine at the finals but ended up losing! I need to like stop making up combos for Galaxy lol.

EDIT: Duo also tended to make KOs while MB was in "aggressive" mode.
I hear Quetz (CW) is actually really good for that, I hope Uwik doesn't mind me saying Wink

Most of My CS's are aggro on Basalt BD145, but put em on Duo and they're calm. Fresh MB didn't make a diff to me, I mean, obviously it's not a bad choice, he did very well with it, but I find CS is just a safer option.

As for Duo KOing on MB, that's something I'll have to try, when my Duo is in stamina mode, no matter what I do it struggles to KO anything!

That said, seeing it win is unsurprising, that thing will be on the Top Tier List in no time, honestly.

I didn't have trouble with it being outspun by (mint) XF's when I tried it, but I will give it another look. I honestly find MB easier to outspin as it is less stable and scrapes easier.

As for Duo and Balance, it's main benefit is that it's near-perfect circular shape means it isn't easily hurt by other beys wobbling. When I tested it, it always seemed weakest when it began to lose balance.
The other winning combinations at The Holiday Hammer were:

2nd Arupaeo: MF-H VariAres R145RF, MF-H Phantom Aquario TH170WD, MF-H L-Drago Guardian BD145CS (aggressive)
3rd Ryugablader: MF-H Basalt Lynx B:D, MF-H Phantom Orion TH170D
4th Bigbang4ever: MF-H Beat Bull BD145CS

EDIT: Some combos above were edited to reflect additional clarifying information (found below)
How did your LDG go?

Also, didn't use yer Duo?
(Dec. 10, 2011  10:36 PM)th!nk Wrote: [ -> ]How did your LDG go?

I used the LDG when facing an up-and-coming blader (Burn Rock Virgo) Wink - who was using a particularly effective Meteo spin stealing combo. The big L-Drago just muscled the little L-Drago right into the ground.

Yeah, well, I told you I'm behind on testing, right? I had to go with what I know.
Ahh, shame, it's an incredible wheel, as you may have noticed! It's gonna raise some eyebrows, methinks.

I see. I'm kinda liking the same combo for LDG, need to git testin' (currently working on my attack launches though), though I use a semi-aggro CS myself, but that's mostly because I lack a decently aggro one

That'll be your first silver face, won't it? Don't worry, it's one of the nicest faces out Wink

Congrats to all the placers/winners, by the way Tongue_out

Well, I would call the LDG more of a special purpose blade choice than anything I would expect to use on a regular basis.

It will actually be my second Silver Face. I have 6 place faces pending now (2 of each: S, G, G, B, B, S) that are all dependent on a tournament from this summer getting processed first. Anyway the Silver Face is very cool-looking, and I'm quite happy to have a second one!

So what actually won the final battle? I think more people would be interested in that. Especially me.
I tied with Mtwo for 1st and 2nd place, so we went into a tie-breaker.

In one of our matches, we each thought that we were gonna use VariAres, so both opted for Defense instead. He used his MF-H Phantom BD145 RB against my MF-H Basalt BD145 RDF, which he won by OS (3-1).

So assuming that he was going to use the same bey for the tie-breaker, I used MF-L Phantom B: D, but instead, he took out MF-H Duo 230 CS (calm CS).

He won 3-2
1 - Duo won OS
2 - Phantom won OS
3 - Duo won OS
4 - Phantom won KO
5 - Duo won KO
Ah I see. Thanks for that. Very interesting. I think you might have still won with Vari LOL but great job nonetheless.

Wow, that was a real squeaker! And congrats on the second place btw. Smile

It certainly hasn't taken long for Duo to start winning tournaments...
I know right. After realizing that the OS wins are too damn close. On the 4th round, I banked Phantom hard, hoping for a KO, which happened too. But he realized this, and for the last round, he banked his Duo too, both recoiled. He got the wall, I got the exit. Lol

But it was a great match. He's a really good blader too.

THIS. After watching those videos you sent me, especially the latest, I was able to see this for sure! For you to even get that close is impressive as well!
