Portable: Nintendo 3DS. You're getting Pokemon, right?
Home: XBOX 360. Controller feels more comfortable than the PS3's. Also the recently released XBOX 360 S is WAY better than the original XBOX 360. it has built in wi-fi, more fans (not possible to RROD). Plus XBOX Live has a bigger community than PSN. So get one. Not to mention the exclusive games like Halo, Gears of War, Super Meat Boy, etc.
As you have not said hand held i assume you want a home one , so i would say if you want more life span of the console + free internet + pc like net browsing experience & best motion sensing gaming i suggest PS3
Xb0x360 is a good buy but in terms of life span i can't really say much as dual layer DVD's will soon reach their limit
i own both of them , so i would say please buy PS3
Some goods of both consoles
Playing sports games [ Fifa Test ] - if you will buy the console according to the games you play then in terms of Fifa it is best played on Xbox360 , i assume same goes for most other sports games , coz having the left stick just bellow LB [ L1 For PS3 Controller ] is way better than with PS3's controller , as the Left stick & right stick on the PS3 Controller are at the extreme bottom of all keys so in most sports games which require the use of LB / L1 , our hand tends to hurt after a couple of hours of continuous gaming
Playing 3D Fighting [ Mortal Kombat test ] - The reason i have choosen this game is it requires a lot of use of the directional pad , to play such fast games PS3 Controller is way better to do combos than the xbox 360 controller
Kinect V/s Move - Kinect requires a 6 ft distance & sometimes playing multiplayer is a pain , move is really fun & guiding through the menus with Kinect will take time to get used to , Move is really fun to pick up & just play
Playing other Games - This mostly is not much a worry coz all the other games handle well
In term of features & overall user friendliness i would much prefer the PS3
& yes if you just want to game for fun & you are not a serious gamer then only buy WII
As I'm more slanted than the area known as the Rocky Mountains, I'm not going to say what platform you should buy. My advice is this, list the exclusive games for each platform that you're interested in (since you won't be able to play them anywhere else). From there, simply choose the platform that has the most exclusives that interest you.
