Just make sure that everything in the signature (picture, words, userbar, etc.) fit in the 500x200 pixels limit that is in our rules.

In you're profile, there is a number next to Reported Posts: - those are the number of posts that you have reported.

I think you become a veteran after you get the amethyst face.
P.S. You get the antique face after you have 1000 good posts.

What you want is the IMG (image) BBCode. First you take your link and "wrap" it in the IMG BBCode. That link Kai-V supplied shows how to make it.

With the BBCode and link, your sig will look like this:

Or you can quote the post that shows the image, and use the link that appears in the post that you're quoting.

You can simply post in the topic for that tournament saying that you will come. However, as long as you make sure to pay the entry fee when you go to the tournament, you do not even need to do anything beforehand.

Yes, the host of a tournament is allowed to participate.
8 is the minimal number of participants a tournament should have. Also, you should note that the 8 participants must be/become a member on here first before they are allowed to participate. (They are allowed to sign up on the day too.)
