Maybe. I've never had to deal with them since I've grown up with German shepherds my entire life. We also live in a good neighborhood, to the point where I've kept the keys in my ignition of my car for days at a time. I'm just speculating on common sense.

I think you'd sooner hurt yourself with that shotgun than protect anyone. They pack quite a kick and in a situation where your adrenaline is pumping, you're not thinking about safety and positioning because you aren't trained for it. If you really want to keep your house safe, get an alarm system.
I know shotguns pack a kick, and no aiming wouldn't be something I'd worry about, just as long as I hit them :V and yeah if the robber left the ladder wouldn't their be finger prints? Also why are people so stupid to steal? Confused their are other options.
Im beginning to think my avatar is confusing younger members about my identity.

If you're worried about hitting the guy, then that's worrying about aiming. Seriously, a shotgun is way too extreme. It's not like TV. Should you encounter any conflicts, striking a robber with a household item maybe more practical. If you're worried about being overpowered, just shine a light in their eyes to blind them momentarily. Common thugs generally don't think with many senses past eyes and ears.

Drugs are a typical motivation for stealing.

I am not really worried about it,even a random shot somewhere near him would do. I know it isn't like T.V.
And whomdoesnt like extreme? And they re good close rang weapons. Or their poor or most likely they are stupid.

Think about it the guy is carped up but that doesn't give you the right to end his life
he has a family, a mum who doesn't want to outlive her child.

ITS NOT COD YOU DONT RESPAWN

I hate this stereotype, but I'm avoiding this conversation as I'm afraid it'd end up in a warning. Poverty, oppression, greed, and desire are also a typical motivations for stealing.

I started work on my new band Poncho's first song off of our upcoming EP "Eldridge", the song is called "The New Year (Oh What Will It Be)". I laid down the drum track, most of rhythm guitar, some of the lead, and the bass. I got the vocals mostly done as well, but I'm still working on tweaking the delay to be just right. The vocals follow the 3\4 beat to a t, but there is a 4\4 delayed poly rhythm over it which is hard to get down.
This conversation is clearly going nowhere and is doing nothing other than annoying me, so let's move on, shall we?
It's not? Is it Halo then?
But fine no shotgun, just use a taser or a magnum and pop him in the leg or in the jewels...
And yes let's move it on..
(Jan. 10, 2011  6:44 PM)Kai-V Wrote: [ -> ]It depends on the individual. Because police does not always have time to properly monitor every house that gets reported.

Of course you do not necessarily want to stay there (alone) in case a confrontation does happen, but at the same time, leaving the house on its own without an alarm system is not the best idea to protect it.

Was it really the robber who had brought the ladder ?

The ladder was under the house, and I assume that they grabbed it and put it up against the house. So they were using my ladder.. hm. Hopefully I won't have to see the burglar again at all.

Though, I think if he fled when he saw the lights turned on he may now give up and move onto another house.

Also, I am not going to shoot him with a shotgun haha.

EDIT: Sorry Roan.

Use of tazers is very dangerous. I think they should only be used when aggressive force is necessary, not when "non-lethal" force is. Pepper spray or police batons work just as well, and usually do not kill. So many people, namely teenagers, have died from cardiac arrest caused by the use tazers.
Well excuse me if I wanna teach the dude whose robbing me a painful lesson :V
No mercy,if people are willing to rob they better be wiling to get hurt.
And can you even just buy a police batons?
And Evan, your in a band? Cool Grin

Problem with Police batons and pepper spray is that they involve getting up close. A longer baton might provide you with some reach, but at least with a tazer you maintain your distance. They're breaking and entering; it's their risk if they suffer dire consequences.

However I see this discussion heading in an unpleasant route. I would suggest we all move on let the Police do their work and be glad nothing serious happened.
I've mentioned this in the last Random Thoughts Thread, but somehow it was deleted. I'll re-post if that is alright. I applied for a scholarship from my university that sends three people over to Japan for six months; books, tuition, a round-trip air ticket and spending money are covered for the three successful candidates who go.

I had an interview with the selection committee last month, as did the other "finalists" in this competition. Normally, the successful candidates know the outcome one to two days after the interview, but no one received any information until two weeks ago in an e-mail, stating that the selection process was postponed until this month because of some negotiations with the university in Japan.

At this moment, I really hope I get a phone call or some good news on this topic; this is the second time I've applied for this. The funny thing is, two of my profs this semester are members on the selection committee.

That sounds like an awesome scholarship. My biggest regret during my university time was not applying for exchange. I've yet to ever hear one person who did not enjoy studying abroad. It's a great experience.

I wish you best of luck with that. Let us know if you get it. Smile
Well good luck Momo! And even if you don't win, turning out to be one of the finalists is still a very big deal. Did you ask either of your professors what exactly is holding up the selection?

Not to mention Pepper Spray has caused some teenagers to go blind.

Seriously guys, a Shotgun is completely unrealistic, and if it's just a robber, you don't need one.

Well, I went back to the Dentist today. (My second visit) They looked at my tooth again, (The one with the "Temporary Filling") and they decided that It needs more than just a filling, but it doesn't need taken out. They said I need a Root Canal. Now I just have to make sure I don't get online after I get the Root Canal. If I got on WBO while I'm on Laughing Gas I would probably make a post that would get me warned. It would probably look something like this: i wet ot he enst day. nw y fce hrts lke crp. (Translation: I went to the Dentist today. Now my face hurts like carp.) As you know, Laughing Gas makes you "High" so it would probably cause me to make crappy posts.

Also, today my Feshman Seminar Teacher (Who is also a History Teacher) told us something that's kinda funny. Apparently, during WWII, on December 24, 1944. The German forces sent a messenger with a note saying that they demanded that the Allied Forces surrender after Christmas was over. The Allied Forces thought this was so Hilarious that they sent the Messenger back with a note that said "Nuts". They also got a Trans-later (Did I spell that Correctly?) to tell his leader that "Nuts" was American for "Go to Hell". Personally, I thought this was very funny. I also hope you thought so too. (I apologize for using the "H Word" in this post. I just figure that since it is a part of history, it doesn't matter if I post exactly what the General said.)
Yep didn't get the part time job at apple.

Oh well, back to searching and applications. I need full time upon graduation anyway.
Thank you, everyone! I'll post the results, good or bad here, to let everyone know. The profs said in the e-mail about some sort of negotiation of funding for the program; I assume the economy is the reason why they were unable to select yet.

I'd be like piccolo Smile, except instead of the huge amour of weight he walks around with, I'll be 80 lbs heavier. I'd use them every single day.

Don't bother. It only hurts your joints and those weights are only useful for when you're actually exercising.
Which hurts your joints?-
Ankle/wrist weights
Vest
Combination of both
All of above Wink

Wrist and ankle. Though the vest would probably hurt your back
Yo guys, I ordered something from Dickson.C and it said my package status was "Forwarded" because he put the wrong zip code or something. What do I do? (Not sure where this belonged)

I have a swim meet Thursday...I'm not even ready for it :[
Pyro, don't worry, you'll do fine.
Now for something completely different. I invented a new emoticon/smily. *-*. So, what do you all think?

My friend down the street has swim meets I think 3-4 times a week. It's funny when she runs for the bus with her wet and it freezes. I swear she looks like a female, red-haired Goku. Well, do well. I have no words of wisdom because I can't swim at all.Crying Anyways, I'm sure you'll do fine.
