I thought it would be cool if we had a homework help thread for all to use....seeing as i need some now XD . Well, for my science project I am comparing fun, games, and videos (hands on activities) VS lectures/written work to see which teaches more effectively. I have done a TON of research and cant find anything. I was wondering if somebody could please help me out with this.
Dude. Lectures/Lessons hands down... like v-tech or brain age actually teaches you!
"V-tech" would be considered hands-on.....i think
LOL you actually know what V-tech is!!
LOL XD saw the commercial
i had a v-tech computer when i was like six, it was the best
you have to consider that those things were made for little kids (who at that age their minds are like sponges so they remember alot) so thoses things work better with little kids who cant really focus or pay attention for long periods of time. but for us it just looks retarted.

So... how did you do your research?
I looked up my topic as "teaching methods" and "learning styles" in several encyclopedias and ive searched the net for hours. ive come across things like the montesory (?) method but debated on whether I should them as sources. Since they didnt have too much in common with my topic.

Generally, if you want to do research on a topic like this, you cannot rely on the net or on encyclopedias. Do you have access to research journals? That should be the main place to find resources.
No, I dont Unhappy i just recently thought of asking teachers though. Only one has really told me "anything."
I'm taking it back to the old school. Totally rocked the GeoSafari when I was a kid. 10 Spinster points to anyone who knows what that is without having to google it. I also memorized Trivial Pursuit: Genius Edition Volume 3 one Summer when I was bored. No-one would play it with me after that.
In Grade 6 over summer break I read the Webster's Dictionary. I still can't spell well, and I never lived down "Dictionary Boy" until highschool.

Def. had a GeoSafari when I was a lil dude.

twas the carp. I beasted on all the little games.
I think I still have it somewhere, actually... Will have to check the attic next time I'm visiting my folks.
I had to google geosafari but we did actually have one in my year 5 class I think. lol

By the way, I've read dictionaries plenty of times when there haven't been any other good books I haven't read before that I could read before bed.

I never memorize the stuff though, it can be interesting seeing all the random words though.
I've always dug linguistics. When I was a kid, I took great delight in studying the Romantic and Indo-European origins to words. My Summer days would be spent pouring over our Encyclopedia set, tracing back the roots of words, and then the roots of those roots. It's no wonder that by 9th grade, I knew more Latin than the kids who'd been taking it for 2 years (I studied Spanish in grade school).
