"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our inquities, like the wind, have taken us away." Isaiah 64:6

I took a massive break in between starting and finishing this and I'm disappointed with the outcome. I wish I worked harder on it but I understand the mistakes I made and I'm already planning my next drawing!
I just thought I'd share it anyway as I haven't finished a piece of art in ages due to lack of motivation and whatnot. I also like the concept, so maybe I'll develop it further one day. :D

Take a look at my other art and photographs!

(I should have my own website soon, hooray!)
What disappointed?!?
I think its awsome!! wish I could do drawings as well as that.
Didn't you post this before somewhere? Was it not finished?
alice, that's a really fantastic pen artwork. the texture of the plummage is really impressive, especially considering it was done with pen, not pencil or charcoal etc. the other work on your site is also amazing. Grin
Aw, thanks everyone!

Kei: Yeah, I posted an unfinished version of this a while back. ;D
Looks fantastic! Just as Gravity Fox said, the texture is very convincing, especially considering it was done with a pen.

Great work, keep it up!
Alice, I'm so impressed. What kinds of pens do you use? I want to make the transition into pens, but I don't know where to begin.
Alice I notice the changes you made. You fixed the spike/cone nicely.

Curious though why you removed the helmets outline? I swear now it plays with your eyes. Like it still dosen't add up, but without the line its better. You like to do Surrealism right? it looks it

Mad props for finishing it, I think its awsome.

Thanks man!
Honestly, I just use very, very cheap biro pens - the kind you can buy singly for 15 pence/cents in shops. I'm a big fan of utilising materials you've already got; you don't need to spend loads of money on fancy art equipment, especially if you're just starting out. Practice with pens you already own and feel comfortable with and create your own style. :D

Thank you Blue!
I wanted to give it an 'illusion' type effect, so that's why I removed the outline. Surrealism can be extremely strange and at first glance, people ask "What the hell is going on in that picture" - but that's why I like it so much! They contain hidden messages, meanings and emotions. Take some of the paintings by Rene Magritte, for example:

Do they 'make sense', are they physically possible? No, of course not, but don't you think they're wonderful all the same? They symbolise and portray thoughts, feelings and emotions, they don't have to be plausible in the conventional sense. :D
Totally love how well the texture is blended oh so smoothly. Great job as always Alice!
