So i was browsing the OP section checking out tourneys and what not to find out about them.

I noticed that there was a $5 entry fee or $6 fee if you don't have a passport blah blah blah and you buy them blah blah for like $10 or $12 or something.

So i was wondering and just curious as to what this money is actually spent on???
I saw that it goes to the WBO but that is pretty hazy.

There was also requests for donations for prizes but I thought that what entry fees were for. There held in parks so it is not like it is to rent a venue or anything.

I am referring to the Melbs tourney because thats what I read.

Why aren't tournaments regular either? and if they were held on a weekly basis or every second week would any Melbs bladers be interested. I not talking about playing in a park either I mean at an actual venue with cash prizes.
This should have been asked somewhere else, such as the "Questions about the WBO" Thread.

Anyway, the money is spent on compensating the hosts of the tournament for the prizes, maintaining the site (yes this site has monthly costs).

Tournaments are hosted by the users of the site, so if you want tournaments, you must take initiative yourself.

Venues cost a lot more than you think.

Cash prizes are completely prhobited by the WBO.
Those questions would go here.

And tournaments aren't held regularly because they are organised by members here who cannot always be holding tournaments. If you want lots of them, consider holding some yourself.

EDIT: hahahaha momiji.
Thats awesome that I expected that you would come back with post it here or whatever. Thats cool and I respect that just didnt know where to put it.

Yeah I respect costs so I get that.

Why are cash prizes prohibited? Why should the hosts and site pocket the cash? If there was enough cash why shouldn't the winners make some bank.

I realize that tournys are organized by individuals and I think you shoudn't be so 'HOLD IT YOURSELF' thats not a good attitude.

I am simply trying to help the OP and the players that want tourneys. We are on the same team.

What I mean is would there be interest in weekly tournaments if they were held by a hobby store?
This is a non-profit organisation. All money goes back to the users, in the form of competitions, or in the prizes, or simple maintenance of the site.

Quite simply it is completely up to you to take the initiative. The attitude of wishing to push the responsibility off to someone else is much worse. The WBO is not some large business, the people make up the organisation, and those who wish for a tournament must host it themselves, as no one on the committee can host it for you, unless they live in your area.
Also, cash prizes means someone will profit, meaning the WBO would no longer be a non profit organisation.
Here goes:
Fees go to running the site, bandwidth costs money, hosting plans, etc.

Members take the initiative to hold tourneys, no hobby shops will not hold them unless they gain something in return. Such as small fees and such, but we need those fees to run the site so that is not possible.

Cash prizes can be risky and it's sort of like gambling, handing out prizes seems safer for the better.

To hold a tourney also takes a serious amount of effort, before, during and after the tournament. Not many people here have the time to do that as they are busy with their everyday lives. If you feel as if you can do it, sure, go ahead. I'm sure plenty of members will be happy if more tournaments were held.

This thread will be closed now, any further questions can be asked in the Questions for the WBO thread.
