Who's a fan? I just got into it... I got Tekken 5 and it's amazing! I LOVE Lee Chaolan (AKA Unicorn boy) The new girl is pretty SICK too Asuka Kazama (She's smoking hawt..)
I honestly think Tekken is the most overrated fighting series, second in line only to Dead or Alive.

At least Dead or Alive has good graphics and a certain cinematic presentation. Tekken has horrible character design, the controls are clunky and antiquated and it's just not fun to play.

Go play Soul Calibur or VF5. A.k.a. real fighting games.
Tekken Rocks my fav is Tekken 3 cuz it has sooo many good characters.
I'm a master of SC... and yes it has HUGE flaws in it, but no I think the character designs of some characters especially the newer ones is fantastic. Have you seen Lee Chaolan? Or DEVIL JIN? Or even....to a lesser extent Asuka Kazama?

Oh yeah, "horrible character design", because we all know that a game filled with a black ninja and carp has better.

Cinematic presentation? Lol, these are fighting games.

Clunky controls? Two kicks, two punchs, and the d-pad to move, yeah thats real clunky.

Soul Calibur 3 fails, hopefully 4 will fix.

VF5 is really good lol.

I never said DOA had better character design.

When I said cinematic presentation I was referring mostly to the camera angles in DOA, particularly during boss fights and the like. I personally think DOA is a horribly shallow fighting game and if you'll re-read what I originally stated, I said Tekken was second in awful game play ONLY to DOA, meaning that DOA is worse than Tekken. Given that, I was saying that at least DOA has some positives. Tekken is just old and outdated and seriously needs a series reboot. Not that DOA doesn't as well. :\

You just proved my point on the control issue. It's a standard layout and hasn't changed for seriously FIVE games. Some will try and argue that this is because the control scheme is so good. Breaking news: it isn't. Any game that requires you to hold the controller contrary to the way it was designed does not have good controls. You know what I'm talking about. People have to put the controller in their lap and use their index and middle fingers to press Triangle, Circle, Square and X to play this game competitively.

I haven't spent enough time with SC3 to make an accurate judgement. SC and SC2, however, are amazing games, as is VF5. The real point here is that the Tekken series has been totally surpassed by superior fighting games.
I meant that Tekken has some huge flaws in it. These are the people who brought us SC. We should be able to use the freaking left analog stick for movement and the controls should be a little re-vamped because we are in DESPERATE need of a BLOCK button. But I love a lot of the character designs and their personalities.

D-Pad > Analog Stick.

To block you simply do not press anything and stand still.

Arcade Stick > All

how about you play the game like that and then declare which is the best

Yeah and then get it in the legs because you didn't move properly... Real good...

And analog stick equals more fluid movement instead of the choppiness of Tekken. Which is why SC is so good.
Haha I have Tekken 2 for the playstation, and my brother and I play it every once in a while, and its not a bad game, just gets old after a while.
