Hey, just wondering, have we got any other fans of hip hop in here? And I'm not talking about the music, I'm talking about the culture. Anyone who practices one of the four elements? Or even one of the nine elements? I'm a bboy myself.

P.S. Hip Hop culture is not being gangsta. Hip Hop is against gangs and violence.
blue does

Do i ever.
lol, you guys are hilarious. I guess I forgot that I'm not on bboy.org right now. You see, every culture has four elements of art. Visual Art, Dance, Spoken Word/Poetry, and Musical. In Hip Hop they are as follows:

Visual Art - Graffiti
Dance - Bboying (breakdancing)
Spoken Word/Poetry - MCing/Rap
Music - DJing

However, a new theory has emerged recently speaking of 5 "sub-elements" in addition to the foundational four. They are street language, street fashion, street knowledge, street vending, and beatboxing. So if we have any practitioners in here, or even any fans of the music, speak up.
We have some people that do graffiti here. bugturtles and blue?
I've tried breaking, but I'm like horrible at it Uncertain

I hate to be rude, but this sounds like a pretty big load of bs. :\
I'm trying to learn to break. I only know some basic moves, but a couple of my cousins are pretty sick at it. Their crew mainly street performs, although they've been in a few competitions.

But the culture itself is some really tight stuff. I want to learn to graffiti as well, but the burbs aren't exactly the perfect place to test out your skills.
Welcome dude. Alota people don't know what your saying.
I wish I could break, going to college next year Im hoping I can find somecrew or people to teach me, can kinda do the turtle, six step.
Graff, well Ive gone out there and done that, but Im toy as hell. hahaha

I check the price of techniks pretty often too. I can beatbox.
hahaha as a whole I love hip hop. I still like gangsta rap but I don't consider it one and the same.

for the discussion of the music theres a thread in media that I try to keep alive. lol
i used to use a Stanton turntable and mixer.

i really want to learn how to breakdance. trying to learn my balance with the turtle though

i like rapping. i need more practice on my freestyle hahaha

the whole scene is cool

What, the nine elements theory? Yeah, I prefer the four elements myself. I just think that beatboxing should count as the second music element.

G, you should check out the ultimate guide for n00bs on ice (now with extra pizzaz on bboy.org)

And Blue, send me some of your graffiti sometime.
I think this properly summarizes how I feel about Hip Hop:

Thats pretty cool Joyful_3

Do you have others? You should make a thread in Your Creations.
But we digress.

i think blue has a graff thread in there or something

i should go cut and spray my designs but they'll be multi-layers so that means it'll be harder to spray and go

but i mean there's nothing to hit so why not just spray it on cardboard or something
haters should gtfo.
hahaha. I know the talk of elements is kinda hokey, but its still true.

yes there are these topics
In music
Graffiti

fans of hiphop culture are scarce on this board, fyi.

do you think hip hop is dead Rei?
