The set lists are going to be the real decider.

Assuming they fix the strum bar.

The instruments are the deal breaker for me.

The guitar they showed in the IGN interview was pretty bleh, but I hate RB's guitar anyway so I couldn't care less.

I'm more interested in what they do to combat the GHIV drums.
blehhh i hope Guitar Hero 4 comes out on top

maybe it's because of who I play rock band with,
but I never really enjoyed it that much
unless they have a killer set list and they change the notes to orbs or something I'll buy Guitar Hero 4

the guitar itself looks improved,
but I always thought stratocasters looked dull
I'm strictly a telecaster man.

From the interview it does seem like they will be getting the instrumets right this time though.
Did anyone watch that awesome video? The CEO of Activision was getting interviewed about GH4 and says "This will be the first game with all the instrumetns: a mic, guitar, and drums" and the lady goes---"wait, isn't that rock band?"

he stutters and wittily says, "we're calling it Guitar Hero 4"

respect down the drain for them Tongue_out.

Rb2 will blow away GH4.
Yeah, at this point I've pretty much decided that I will buy anything Harmonix makes over anything from Activision.

Activision has become the new EA: Stuck-up and arrogant.

Whats so bad about Activision ?

Oh I dunno, only the fact that they have more or less outdone EA when it comes to yearly updates for games and for having zero consumer consideration.

Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero (Sometimes three games in a year, like this year we have GH:Aerosmith, GH: On Tour for DS annnnnd GH: World Tour), Call of Duty, etc. etc. etc.

Want to use our guitars in another game? HA, too bad. Better pay up.

Want to play your GH3 DLC in GHIV? HA, not going to happen.

Then they have their CEO out there spewing out ignorance. I remember when GH3 and RB1 were releasing he said something along the lines of "Being one of the biggest franchises in gaming, of course there are going to be imitators" (He was saying this about Rock Band), when lo and behold, Activision is probably the company most guilty of imitating competitors.

I will give them their props for at least innovating with GH4 (New guitar, drumset and music creation mode are all pretty cool), but that innovation didn't come without ripping RB off first. Granted, both GH and RB are Guitar Freaks rip offs but still...

And now more recently the same guy (I think its the same guy anyway) is off saying carp about how GHIV will be the first game to have all the instruments. Uhhh, REALLY?!

Yeah dude Activision can suck my carp. They are stuck-up and don't listen to their fans.

I sort of wish Harmonix wouldn't have partnered up with EA for RB because I really can't stand EA either, but there's really no other company with the cash to support something like RB. But regardless, I know Harmonix always has their fans in mind and I think we will clearly see that as more info about RB2 is released.
lol wow, sounds like they are pretty big dicks

i never meant i liked them..i could care less,
as long as the final game is good
but the compatibility stuff is bull
wow ryan, that was like when i was bitching to you about mgs4 lol

completely agree though. activision has dlc like every month. thanks carp
agreed ryan but world at war looks cool
incondite Wrote:agreed ryan but world at war looks cool

Multiplayer most denitely not, and while I'm sure the singleplayer won't surpass COD4, it could be really awesome if they take out the brown people cloning machines and add flamethrowers and swords.

Anyway this is Rock Band 2 thread so I'm shutting up now.
I missed that; was the question answered as to whether they'll let one avatar sing and play guitar? I hope they fix activating star power for vocals. I guess its not that big of a deal, I probably won't enjoy this after a while like the last one. I really can't recommend playing vocals in this game if you have any hope to ever make it as a musician... never have I found a game so depressing as this :&
Marin Wrote:I missed that; was the question answered as to whether they'll let one avatar sing and play guitar?

They mentioned it, but it wasn't confirmed. All they said was something along the lines of "we're looking into it".
Bah, I never liked these music sim games. But I will say gameplay wise Konami's Rock Revolution should kick the asses of both RB, and GH combined. As well, the fact the instruments for RR are being designed by real musicians is interesting.

Just sucks that IIRC it doesn't have vocals, and because it's a Beatmania title, it's only covers.

hahahaha gtfo

Rock Revolution looks like carp
Has Konami actually released anything other than it'll contain 40 tracks that'll all be covers, and the info I posted? I can't be bothered to check since I'm on my phone, but I'm pretty sure nothing else has been made public.

Aswell, notice how I said "gameplay wise" not overal. I'm sure Konami will screw up terribly in some departments. But considering their history, their gameplay should be tight, and the instruments should be good.

You wanna know something awesome? RB1 is still on schedule to release in Europe in August, but then RB2 is also scheduled to launch simultaneously on 360 in both the US and Europe in September.

In other words, the month after the first game comes out.

IGN makes my phone want to kill itself. It's version of Flash isn't even near IGN videos Unhappy

And honestly, if it's a task you can do IRL, and you're acurately (as accurately as you can in these games) doing it in video games, I'd call it a simulation. Therefore it's a sim.
yeah man real guitars just have five buttons and a bar you flick up and down
