Discuss the game here!! Shadow of the colossus is an epic ps2 game where you battle 16 giant well thought-out monsters called the colossus. Each colossus is defeated differntly. What makes the game interesting is the fact that it is not a wave of constant action. They game has a very artisic feel and is truly worth getting...tell me what you guys think of the game!!

I will probably post pictures of all the colossi later on...

true...however...the rest of the gameplay is amazing, and...they are making a Shadow of the Colossus 2 for ps3
Great game. The mesh of Action and Puzzle here was really quite revolutionary for the time. Having each colossus so unique as well made the game worth playing.

Hmm...maybe I should speed run it sometime.

yeah..that or do the time trial mode!
I've never played the game...but I've heard A LOT of praises about it and I'm very surprised that it hasn't been exploited like Hell, making sequels and prequels and spin-offs out of it. I've seen a few videos of it on Youtube, including the last Colossi and just that fight makes me want to buy it.

Can't be very expensive, these days. After all, it's like five years old...

its around 20 bucks i think...cause it is a greatest hits title...THE GAME IS JUST PLAIN EPIC!!!!
So, I went to a Gamebuzz, today, and they happened to have a copy of it...Oh, sorry, I meant SEVEN copies of it...

I love how the clerk told me while handing me the game " You haven't played it yet? 'bout time you got in town, pal." I feel like I was left behind a little XD
Outstanding game. I bought this used a while back and beat the first colossi, but didn't pick it back up again until last month ... and since then haven't played haha. I've defeated ten so far.

Perhaps I will post some more thoughts once I've beaten the game.

No they aren't. The team behind SotC, Team Ico, are working on a new title for the PS3 called The Last Guardian. It's supposedly in the same universe as SotC, but SotC is also in the same universe as their first game, Ico, which holds very little similarities besides being great games. So, I wouldn't hope on that to be a sequel in the truest sense of the word.

There are a lot of rumors about a Team Ico Collection (like the God of War Collection, and upcomming Sly Cooper Collection on PS3) in the works for a Tokyo Game Show announcement, and a release just prior to the release of The Last Guardian. This would mean Ico and SotC would be rendered in some form of HD (likely 720p for Shadow, and possibly 1080p for Ico) and hopefully have their frame rates improve (an issue that's some what heavy in Shadow). Only issue I have with this, is that, Ico (a game originally developed for the PSone, but then rushed over to the PS2) is going to look ugly at those resolutions if they don't touch it up some more. Then again, this collection is just a rumor, and some board room meeting talks.

that be cool...the last few colossus are epic...have fun with them!
i payed this with my friends and it was awesome
Movie rights are sold to hundreds of games. Doesn't mean they get made. For example, the Tetris company sold the film rights to Tetris. Tetris has no story, and is a puzzle game about clearing lines. That's not going to be made into a movie.

That said, if Guilermo Del Torro was able to direct it, I wouldn't mind him helming a Shadow of the Colossus movie. He's a fan of the game, and is a well celebrated director with a great sense of visual style.

Acctually... The movie has been confirmed... The guy writig the script is the guy who wrote the street fighter movie. The creator of the game is directing it.

If so, then it's doomed.

Let's remember how bad the Street Fighter movie was (or how bad the sequel to Street Fighter was) and having the creastor of the game directing it doesn't mean that it'll be loyal to the original creation, I refer you to the Wing Commander movie (You've probably never heard of it, though. The said movie basically killed the franchise and was directed by its creator.)
A lot of movies have completed scripts and never, ever, get off the ground. Heck, the writer linked to this project, Justin Marks, also wrote a script for a He-Man movie in 2007. That sure was a great movie. (It was never made)

I'd doubt Sony would give Ueda (director at Team Ico) $60-$100 million to go make a film. Especially since they wouldn't give that much to Kojima to make a Metal Gear film. Ueda's linked to the project, but Akira Toriyama is linked to DragonBall Evolution and served solely as an executive producer.

At the end of the day, a film project is in the early stages of production. However, that hardly guarantees an actual movie being made. Don't start crying foul until an actual movie has been greenlit (in this case, it hasn't) and is set for filming. That said, SotC provides an experience worthy of being on film with the right hands.

Did you read those links? If you did, you'd notice that the movie isn't in production. It's still in pre-production, and the first link you gave me even says this:

Quote:And of course, Variety reminds us that the path from studio to screen is a long one, and anything can happen in-between.

As for He-Man, that live action movie came out 20 years before Justin Marks was even attached to a film. He had nothing to do with that one, but he was attached to a different He-Man project that didn't get off the ground.

I am quite aware of what the links say...I think this means that they will probably continung with tthe Sotc movie project...Much to my dismay...however...if they do...i probably won't see it...also...i just learned that if you beat the boss time trials, you get new weapons and items for use in regular gameplay only...not time trial mode sadly...
every video of this game i've seen makes the framerate look to be about 1
