Some of my favourite Jpop artists include Hikaru Utada, BoA, Tohoshinki, V6, Yui, Ikimonogakari, Aqua Timez, FLOW, SiD, Do As Infinity, Every Little Thing, L'arc En Ciel, Ayumi Hamasaki and more.

L'Arc~En~Ciel, Utada Hikaru, and I like some of Gackt C. 's songs, but some are too mellow
My favorite is Koda Kumi, Crystal Kay, Ayumi Hamasaki, Utada Hikaru, Nana Mizuki, Yuki Kajiura, Boa, Yukari Tamuru and many more
Just so you guys know, I don't like AKB48, lol. The only song of their's I've even heard is a DragonBall Kai ending theme. That said, while I'm unsure of their popularity, you can't go wrong with Maximum the Hormone, or even the aforementioned Ayumi Hamasaki and Flow.
