This tournament was an experiment where our preliminary rounds had predetermined spin directions. If a spin direction was chosen two rounds in a row, we default to the other in the following round. This created a much more risky atmosphere where attack types had much more free reign(especially in left spin). Savior and Guilty combos ran rampant through the preliminary round and if this idea is tried out again in the future, I can’t wait to see what effect Xiphoid will have in the tournament!


Despite being my first time hosting a tournament, it ran very smoothly! The rounds finished up well, the free play stadiums were used a lot and fun for the kids, and I only had one error with inputting match results which was easily found and fixed thanks to everyone keeping track.
Next time though, I hope I can find a venue where I can secure a location without having to wait at the spot for a good 3 hours🤣.


All that said, I’ll go into my experience through the rounds.


Round 1(right spin)
My first match was against Master_Dante. He had a cyclone combo on wave’ while I used a dynamitef and bearing combo. I took this match, but Master_Dante’s combo was VERY stable. Even though my combo had more rotation speed at the end, my combo kept tilting and I was nervous for the whole match.


Round 2(left spin)
In round two, I got to go against Xorn23 after our finals  match in UnseenBurst’s last tournament. However, this time, it didn’t turn out well for me. See, I knew that going safer with my guilty on mobius combo was smarter, but I was still on a combo high about my rage on ad+V from the last tournament(completely forgetting that against Xorn, it wasn’t very effective😰). This came back to bite me as Xorn23 went 3-1 against me, but not before my combo kicked him out, and swung back to do a wall burst on his guilty combo!


Round 3(left spin)
For round 3 I was against MasterBladder4. Learning my lesson, I switched back to my guilty mobius combo to do the job, and it worked out well. I won with 3-1, but not before a good amount of scary hits from MasterBladder4’s guilty combo on what I remember to be Metal Destroy.


Round 4(right spin)
With two left spin rounds, we went back to right spin. My opponent was Surge Master. I would like to say more, but we had a simple stamina fight of my dynamite and bearing vs Raphael compared to the others with more attack oriented battles. So for here, I’ll just say that I got the win. According to Xorn23 who judged the match however, if Surge Master had changed to stamina mode on his driver, the outcome could have been different.


Final Round(left spin)
My final round needed a win in order for me to make it to the final. I was confident with my guilty mobius combo. What I didn’t take into account however, was Zektor letting my opponent Dylan2000 borrow a metal Xtreme driver. This made the match much more dangerous. However, losing a point and seeing his launch pattern, I was able to predict the pattern and shut the flower pattern off from the start. This brought me to a 2-1 and I felt confident. However, two rounds in a row, his guilty with little stamina managed to knock out my combo at a lucky point. Both times, his bey was facing a side wall and mine was facing the pocket. What was the most ridiculous though, was that on the final 2-2, I thought that I had won with his bey only having a few seconds left to spin at most… but then the strangest explosive hit happened for reasons that we were still trying to figure out which led to me getting knocked out and losing to Dylan2000 in a 2-3 match. As our quote for the day says: “with guilty, anything can happen”
This match secured Dylan’s first ever finals in a tournament, and the lending of parts would come to haunt everyone in the finals😅.


After thanking the parents and announcing the finalists, we had a raffle for a 20% discount code provided by fourgaming. The first time, the wheel actually spun on me, but feeling bad about that, I did a re-spin and the prize went to Master_Dante instead.


Afterwards, we went into the finals with Zektor against Dylan2000 and Xorn23 against Diamond Blader. This matchup proved one thing in my mind: kids are superior to adults. While I don’t remember the rounds, well, both semi-final matches were close ones. There were crucial moments for both Zektor and Xorn23 while switching combos that would have decided the match. 
Xorn23 vs Diamond Blader was very entertaining to watch as Xorn23 showed how broken his red moment driver was time and time again. Diamond showed great thought in switching combos, showing off great strategic skill despite being at such a young age. In the last battle, Diamond’s Guilty on Zone’+Z edged out Xorn23’s Prominence on Moment to propel Diamond to the final battle. Awesome job Diamond!


Zektor vs Dylan2000 was just as fun. Remember how I mentioned that the morrowing of a certain part would haunt the finalists? Well, that was the case for Zektor himself where his own part came steamrolling on a guilty combo to stomp him out. Of the 5 points that Dylan2000 scored on Zektor, THREE of them resulted from the guilty combo. Even when Zektor switched to his defensive prominence combo, Dylan2000 kept launching consistently and perfectly(having actually improved his launch from his match with me) to finally get him the win. Great job Dylan2000!


Next, we had the 3rd place match of Xorn23 and Zektor. In all honesty, I don’t remember all the details of the match except that it was very close. I know that Zektor was ahead from the beginning, but Xorn23 was able to snatch the win from behind and take 3rd place.


Finally, we had the final match of the tiny titans Dylan2000, and Diamond Blader. One showed great control over his attack type combinations while the other showed extreme capability in switch decision making. I was excited to see how this matchup would go. After getting a feel of each other’s combos, Dylan2000 whipped out the guilty combination. This put an insane amount of pressure against Diamond’s team. Upon closer inspection, none of Diamond’s deck was a reliable counter to the guilty combo. This led to guilty stealing 2 points, then a switch match of dynamitef giga HXtend+’ from Dylan2000 and guilty on Zone’+Z from Diamond. Despite the match seeming to be in Diamond’s favor, Dylan2000’s combo did a miracle last rotation out of nowhere to bring the match to 1-4 in Dylan2000’s favor. The last battle of the day was vanish on bearing vs Guilty. Again, Dylan2000’s control of guilty shone, leading to a burst finish to wrap up the tournament. This ended in a blistering 1-6 for Dylan2000, leading not only to his first final ever, but his first number one placing on top of it.
As a final message about the final round, remember, Dylan2000 borrowed Zektor’s parts, leading to him beating me, Zektor and Diamond back to back to back. So in short, I think we can all agree that Zektor not only dug up his own grave, but grabbed me and diamond’s ankles and dragged us down as well🤣🤣🤣.


Alright, all jokes aside, this was a great performance by everyone, and Dylan2000 especially. I’m proud to have had you all in my first ever hosted tournament and even as I leave the area next year, I hope that if I come back in the summer, you all will keep this community vibrant and fun as I have experienced it!

I have to ask, how does your guilty on mobius combo work for you(also I don’t know if I missed it but did you mention what disk you used?). I like guilty Spriggan nexus-d mobius(very worn)-2 but it’s not super consistent against vanish. It’s ok at best, and does well against right stuff.

Mine uses a fairly fresh mobius with a Nx+S. From my testings, the D Gear can only be used consistently against rights when mobius is worn to a good degree.
+S works best with a fresh mobius. I think that the weight distribution provides more balance for some reason.

As for same spin, I have seen that it can possibly burst left spins. However, I see it more often than not just beating an opponent to submission. It doesn’t always work, but it hits well and can stand at least a 30% chance generally speaking from my own testings.
In retrospect lending out a Metal Xtreme, Devil blade, and F-gear was not the best idea.

Ah makes sense. Before my mobius was worn down I liked it for beating opponents into submission also, but it didn’t do well in opposite spin. My feeling with nexus+s is that since it’s so wide it gives mobius stability but when the opponent tilts they have more to spin steal off of. With nexus+d it’s got more stamina, doesn’t scrape, and because it’s a bit less wide the opponent doesn’t have as much to spin steal off of while nexus+d is still wide enough to provide mobius with stability. Though mine being awakened probably contributes to the fact.
