Hello everyone, and as you can see by the picture above I have taken apart my backup DB launcher. I say backup because it’s a backup in case my power-gear one breaks. Anyway, 3 or 4 years ago this same grip was stuck to the cho-z achilles string launcher for a couple years. I managed to get the launcher off, but now the same grip is stuck to this launcher. I have taken it apart and that white piece you see is the part of the grip where the launcher is attached to. My thought process was that splitting the grip apart would also take that piece off the launcher. I was wrong, and it’s still just as hard to take off. When I say hard to take off, I mean hard to take off, I’ve given up on trying to take it off because if I manage to I feel like the launcher would also break. So now I’m thinking I should take apart the actual launcher and maybe the white piece will detach, but I don’t know if that would cause all of the internal gears inside the launcher to fall out of place. So my question is, if I take the 5 screws out of the actual DB launcher will the internal gears stay in place and I will be able to re-attach the outside as if nothing happened, or will the gears fall out of place and will the launcher break?
Any further knowledge of taking apart this stuff, or other strategies of how to get this darn white thing off I am open to hear. Thanks in advance.

Talking from my experience with repairing my brothers stuck gear DB Launcher, I think I might be able to help with what you are asking.

When you take off the screws, the internal gear will pop out, but it is very easy to pop it back in if you remember what position it was in before it was taken out. Of course, If you don't open it after taking off the screws with the Right Spin side facing you, that would be a little hard to tell, but with a bit of testing you could bring it back in its original position.

When you do pop it back in, do NOT stress the string to be able to retract into the launcher perfectly, it it just fine if it hangs out just a little bit. I tried that myself, and wasted precious minutes trying to do that, just to give up in the end.

So to summarize it all, the main gear and a few small pieces will fall out unless flipped on one of its sides, but will not break. Try not to add tension to the string while reeling it back into place if the gear does fall out, and don't make it too perfect.

Hope this might help,

Thanks so much Wizard Blader!

So just to confirm, when I take it out some parts will pop out but if I open the screws on the left side and put the right spin side on the top they won’t fall out? And if they do fall out I just have to fiddle (not to aggressively) with it until it fits? Then if the string falls out I slowly retract it into the launcher, but don’t stress it?
Sorry if that’s a lot of questions I just want to make sure I don’t break this thing.

No problem, and to answer your questions:

1: When you take it out, yes if you open the screws on the left side and put right spin on the top they might not fall out. Its been a few months since i did that, but I could try taking apart his launcher to see if that is true, before you try doing it.

2: If they do fall out, you don't really have to fiddle with it much, just line the pieces up in their places and you will be good! Again, Ill test doing this myself so then you don't have to do this part.

2: For the string part, this is only if the pieces fell out, and the little metal rings that lead the string to the outside (Meaning the part of the string that you pull) are misaligned with their places. This part is moderately easy, the only difficulty being the reeling in while the launcher is disassembled, and tightening of the string if it got looser.

Before doing any of this, ill experiment with my brother's launcher before I confirm that anything that I have said is possible. Should not take me long, so ill most likely have the next reply up here in less than 30 minutes if I'm lucky.

Okay, so to answer question 1, doing it the way I described does seem to work.

To answer questions 2 and 3, you should never have this issue with the string if you open it the way I described, and not too violently. Try to keep your hands steady when gently pulling the two pieces apart.

Also, I noticed that you said 5 screws, and not 7. To fully take apart the two pieces, you need to take off all of the 7 screws on the launcher. The last two are under the Gear Unit if its on left spin, or under the Spin Unit if on Right spin.

Hope this will help,

In my experience, you don't have to take apart your launcher to remove a stuck grip.

If you have a rubber mallet, you can firmly, yet gently, knock off that white piece that's stuck. Or, if you've put it back together by the time you read this, the whole grip.

- With one hand, you hold on tight to the launcher.

- With the other hand, use the rubber mallet to tap (not strike) the side part where stuff like damping weights would go. On your launcher, it'd be the white thing. With enough taps, it should be freed.

That being said, if you choose to try this method, I CANNOT stress enough that you should be careful when doing this. Only use small amounts of force, and take care not to hit your own hand.

WizardBlader… It worked!
I actually didn’t even need to take apart the actual launcher, I just took of the bottom screws and it just popped right out. It was just crammed in between the two sides, being squished. I don’t know how that happened but thanks anyway for the advice and in case a future launcher of mine breaks I’ll definitely come back and do what you said.

Great! I'm glad that you didn't need to get too much into the launcher, and that it just popped the piece right out.

Glad to  have helped,
