It can be anything small from parts quality to event locations!
Personally, my main gripe is ease of access into the game. Stadiums are either very expensive at base, or shipping to get one is extremely high. Even local stores don't have any, let alone ones that lack a Hasbro garbage gimmick. Really makes the game discouraging to even think about coming back into.
I definitely agree with you on ease of access. If you want to have any chance in Standard, you need to use TT, full stop. Thankfully I'm in a position where I can afford to buy most releases (although I usually skip random boosters). I grew up in the MFB era, and it's honestly really disheartening to see how far Hasbro has fallen. Back then, everything they released was nearly on par with TT (save for their stadiums, unfortunately), with their product quality only starting to decline during 4D and Zero-G.
Also living in a big state sucks, there's tons of tournaments but they're all a 4-5 hour drive from me T-T

I grew up with Plastic/HMS and MFB, myself. I've known Hasbro's shenanigans from an early age with their terrible stadiums, very few were actually good for standard play. Now to get a standard style stadium (Hasbro blue triangle, MFB standard) it's EXTREMELY expensive. $110 CAD+, even some going up near $200 for the stadium alone. It's wild.
I live in a pretty remote province, myself. Never any events hosted near me, even if I could play.
Hasbro releasing complete garbage, me not having enough money due to not having a job yet, and only being able to get beys when I have good grades (my grades are normally complete s*** except for Math, History, and Bible due to me being so stressed)
