Zan (斬) is a Layer Weight released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Gatchinko Layer System. It debuted in Japan with DX Starter Ace Dragon Sting Charge Zan on March 16, 2019.
==Description==
Zan is a symmetrical Layer Weight, as both sides of it have one hexagon in the middle. It is very much a standard weight, and is not as heavy as Goku. However, it serves a usable niche for any Gatchinko Layer System combination if Goku and Diabolos 1 are not available, or being used on other combos in the same Deck. It has a pretty solid weight overall compared to other Layer Weights, allowing it to be fairly useful if you need a generic Gatchinko Layer Weight. However, due to the way the star moldings work, 4-star variations are ideal, as they are all filled out on the underside. Other star configurations have slightly hollowed out areas, disrupting balance slightly.

Zan is a fairly catch-all Layer Weight, however, it is usable in the absence of Goku or Diabolos 1. It is best at stamina, however, it can be used for any sort of combination in a pinch. It is not a must-have in Gatchinko Layer combinations, but it is a welcome addition to any blader's collection. However, the advent of heavier and better layers that don't use Layer Weights renders all of them outclassed. Therefore, Zan is recommended for collection purposes only in Standard format.
