Live-Action Anime Adaptations

Seems to be a gradually growing trend in Hollywood, neh? There's already Speed Racer coming out early next month, Blood the Last Vampire late this year, and the Dragonball Z movie next year. There's been the proposed Evangelion trilogy by ADV with WETA. James Cameron has been planning an adaptation of Battle Angel Alita for several years. Leonardo di Caprio is producing Akira into two films. Tobey Maguire's got the Robotech franchise. And finally Spielberg's Dreamworks are making a 3D live-action Ghost in the Shell.

Is it all too much?
What impact if any will it have on the perception of anime outside of Japan?

I'll post my opinion later today, gotta head out,
