Little Beyblade styled game I've been working on for fun!

Hey guys!

In my spare time when I'm not doing more serious things, I've been reminding myself how to do 3D game development in Unity (as opposed to the 2D stuff I've been doing a ton of recently). So, about a week ago I decided it'd be a fun challenge to sort out how a Beyblade game would work. I ended up making something real quick in just a couple hours that functioned quite nicely, which lead me to snowball into making what you see now in the gif above.

It's a simple physics-based combat system only (so far), but that may change depending on what I do with it. No clue if I'll do anything with it yet, but if I do, I'll definitely post about it here. Also, worth noting, it definitely would be something only playable on PC if I ever did create an actual game with it.

What do you guys think? Should I do anything with this? Anything you'd add or change? Let me know!

The game is quite impressive. What if you try to make those beyblades look like beyblades from the anime?
Hey thanks! Glad you like it. It's only about a week of work, haha.

They actually are real Beyblades, just not ones from the current generation (I'm much older, so am honestly just not at all familiar with Burst). The current model I'm using is one of Galeon from the Plastic generation. If I were to make this a full game, though, I'd have to move away from official Beyblade products and do more of my own thing for legal reasons.
Wow. I always have respect for developers. They basically are shaping the future. I have tried a few courses myself, not the best at it.

Anyway. This is really great! I would really like to see the finished result! You can take your time, I’ll wait for it! The MFB online game by Hasbro was basically just destroyer dome, if you remember that.

I just have one question though, did you have to make the 3D sprites or did you get an STL file or something online?

Also, are there Ring Outs? Because that would be great if you could add that. (Unless you already added that...) That’s one of the things that Hasbro’s current app for Beyblade Burst, misses out on. You’re basically stuck in the stadium.

Thanks!

The 3D models I'm currently using are either made by me (the background and stadium) or an edited version of an STL I found online (for the Beyblades). I'm prepared to eventually make my own models for that too, but these are decent placeholders while I'm busy doing other things.

And yes, there are ring outs ! The gif ends right before one, actually lol. Right now, you can win either by ring out or spin out, but I do plan on probably adding something like bursting, too. I think adding all three will be a cool way to keep combat interesting.

That’s fantastic! Keep up the great work!

That’s awesome, I’ve tried to do something like this with a circuit board and LED lights. (Sadly it didn’t turn out well)
What’s the update on the game so far? It looks amazing!

Only just saw this, sorry about that. This was just a little project I'd been tinkering with, so I never really took it very seriously or had any long-term plan for it. Maybe at some point I'll get it in a state suitable to make something public, but I also am very busy with more professional projects, so that's probably not in the cards anytime soon unfortunately.

I'll totally keep you guys posted if anything does ever come of this, though!
