RE: Plastics General Discussion - th!nk - Feb. 28, 2012

Hah, yeah, seems like your sorta thing.

Really? Oh no... I'm going to have to buy a Blizzard Orthros now :c

Cross Griffon is a monster. Someone needs to make Kei try it himself, haha.

Not abnormal, the weight distribution causes it.

The most important thing is that you too saw that it was Upper Attack, I've tried a lot of combo's I dislike (i.e. I used Storm Grip and 10bBistool) for the sake of fact checking and such, and I greatly appreciate you doing it too. Mc Frown was right when he said "the best way to see that it's upper attack is just using it" or whatever.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Hazel - Feb. 28, 2012

My only concern about playing with the Wolborg 4 custom so much is that I'm afraid it might become aggressive quickly, which would lead to me needing to buy another one... if I could get one in a nice dark blue, I'd totally play it with Cross Dranzer sitting atop it, just for kicks. I figure it would still be pretty much as hard to KO... AR almost seems like a Clear Wheel on that thing. EDIT: Tried Cross Dranzer on it, and it really did not seem to suffer any consequence at all, lol. I'll probably stick with Tiger Defenser anyway, though.

Yeah, it was pretty consistent - not sure if it was like a subconscious bias thing or what, but I did do ten launches of it. After that it got mind-numbing and I quit, lol.

I'd prefer it stay obscure, though! Keep the prices of Griffolyon low!

Alright - with four balls in it mine was zipping around as fast as the Blizzard Orthus base, lol.

I favor Upper Attack a lot in most cases, and having spent so much time playing with Driger V2, I'd recognize an Upper Jump anywhere. One or two incidents of it wouldn't be much, but it was happening constantly, along with severe tilting of the other Beyblade, so there's really no denying it.

I also just played around with:

Triple Wing
Wide Defense
Neo-Right SG(HMC)
Customize Grip Base
Survivor Ring SP

Didn't do much of anything, but it was neat! I'm not really sure why I put it together, and it was ugly as sin, but, still.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - th!nk - Feb. 28, 2012

Cross Dranzer overhangs too much IMO. You really want to avoid hard hits to the top part as that is how it gets KO'd.

Just stock up on a couple of Wolborg 4's now, as they're currently about $13 shipped on Ebay, nip (box folded to save on shipping.)

I am always annoyed at the fact there was only one recolour of Wolborg 4, the ice blue one. A real shame, That CEW part and base could be used for a nice two-toned effect, if the colors weren't so limited (for normal base, you can use the Tan one from Rock Bison, or the gray/ice blue wolborg ones, for the cew part, you can use Grey or Ice Blue). A real shame.

I must admit I'm surprised, it certainly doesn't look like it would really do better, but then I didn't think defense ring would be as good as I thought either. I appreciate you checking, though. Looks like Blizzard Orthrus jumps to the top of my wishlist (ahead of Appolon g).

Griffolyon nib stock is already running out, it seems, and we already have the article up. That said, Cross Griffon could be launched at a tank and the

That's normal, yeah. SG Metal Ball does the same.

Yeah, exactly my thoughts about it. When I first used it I was very skeptical, but man, it impressed, and my invocation of it (with Triangle Wing, a green plated Wide Defense, and the usual Wolborg 2 Base), sees regular use, it's something I'd be extremely comfortable using at tournaments, and probably will pull out at least once at the next plastics tourney I host. It's a lot more forgiving than my Ariel 2 tipped combo, because of its good spin stealing ability and the massive destabilisation it causes even if it doesn't KO. That said, my Ariel 2 combo does better assuming a good launch, and beats a much wider range of opponents.

That should be a decent (if tall) smash attack combo. Just lose the HMC, no need for it on that at all, you can use the Normal Core or a regular SG internal part with that setup.
Try it with the normal core, Wide Survivor and Triple Tiger (Driger G). Triple Tiger gives you a better vertical attack range and the upper attack it introduces gives you much better performance against wolborg 2 tipped opponents. That said, it will also be less effective against Wolborg 4.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Hazel - Feb. 28, 2012

Yeah, it does overhang a bit, but Cross Dranzer is also not really a defensive slouch, either - it's decently heavy, and doesn't really fire backwards from contact that much. Super tall attackers also, forgive my potential ignorance here, do not seem to be an overwhelming concern... which, if I'm not mistaken, is one of the leading causes of this combo's near-invulnerability in your average tournament, concerning them?

I might get one or two, yeah, but not right now - buying that TA set me back, lol. The ice blue W4 is really nice, but I like that my Tiger Defenser looks so neato on top of it... it does occur to me, when holding it, though, that it doesn't look much like a Beyblade at all - Wolborg 4's CEW makes the thing just look like a big goofy child's toy, haha. Then again, in my mind, "the most beyblade-looking beyblade" has always been Dranzer S in Survival or whatever mode.

No problem - could just be the little fin things pushing it along or something, as I had the slopes facing a direction conducive to that movement specifically...

I mostly put that combo together to try and deal with Wolborg 4, lol. It didn't really pan out, but I was too tired to actually bother trying to launch hard, either.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - th!nk - Feb. 29, 2012

Yeah, basically that is all correct. That said, if anyone happens to realise that Customize Grip Base is good or is brave enough to pull a Uriel 2 tip out, you basically auto-lose.

Ahh, yes. Dranzer S was a beautiful "beybladey" thing. I should really buy another for looking at... I always loved that base as a kid, it had a lot of stars. Tongue_out

Eh, fair enough. If it turns out it sucks I can use it on an attacker anyway.

Use more violence!
Seriously though, Wolborg 4 is a darned pain to KO without crazy attackers, and the main reason I went searching for a crazier attacker.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Mc Frown - Feb. 29, 2012

I also have a NIB Dranzer S
hit me up (I really don't need a fourth) :V

RE: Plastics General Discussion - th!nk - Feb. 29, 2012

Hah, I need to make sure I'm working this week first (long story bleh).

Yay quick learning. Customize Grip is really fun, and I honestly like it more than my Grip Base(the original owner may die if he ever reads that...), it's plenty quick and just looks and feels more impressive. Plus, SP! I might goof around with Cross Survivor SP later, for giggles... maybe try and build an attacker that looks like a hamburger.

I used Dranzer S a lot, and for a pretty long time, since it took me a while to get ahold of a Driger S. Dranzer was my original "Plastic Bromance" - I always liked Driger S more in the show, but it was always sold out at my local stores. So, I resorted to the also-neat Dranzer, and stuck with it for a long time. That is why all the way up to the G series, Dranzer is almost evenly tied with Driger in my graces. Truth be told, I mostly hoard Driger S because they're more useful to me than Dranzer S, for the time being.

If all else fails, you'll still have a Blizzard Orthus~ Just not a neat dark blue one like mine.

lol, I'm still not comfortable blading with my plastics the way you do, though - especially these, since they were a gift. That is one of the primary reasons I have switched from a pseudoattacker/hard attacker to a Defense/Survival guy.

If you have a Dranzer V2 with the stickers intact laying around, I will fondle you gently with as many, or as few, tentacles as necessary...

RE: Plastics General Discussion - th!nk - Feb. 29, 2012

I use cross survivor on my main attacker. It looks horrid but it works. It would help if the parts didn't result in it being all the colors of the rainbow, but yeah.

My main issue with CGB is that I'm used to Ariel 2's tip, which is exceptional at handling recoil, while CGB has issues with that.

I liked Dranzers because I liked blue and because the base of dranzer s had a lot of stars Serious

I prefer the original colour, to be honest, haha.

I don't beat them up too badly. If you view my pictures in the collection thread, most of my blades are in decent nick unless I had them as a child or bought them in bad shape, or they are particularly fragile and I didn't realise.
I use them more than most, but I do still take care of them. Even I am anxious about using grip base and stress about my uriel 2 tip being worn (and am very reluctant to use my mint one). I mean, very few of my beyblades are mint, but I do what I can to keep them all looking decent, though I do get lazy with cleaning them up and I need to print off some replacement stickers for a lot, I need to work out how to do that, etc.
But yeah, I use them, someone has to, I don't want to leave anyone who might come along in the future in the dark about numerous parts like I was when I started, and I want to at least see all of the many, many errors on the wiki gone.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Mc Frown - Feb. 29, 2012

Whenever I get a NIP or NIB bey I intend to use, I always keep the sticker sheet mint :V
Never applying stickers for life.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Hazel - Feb. 29, 2012

Even when I'm going to use a plastic, I cannot stand to look at them without stickers on... same for HMS, actually. I kind of just outright want a new Dranzer V2, though, as mine's been used quite a lot(the stickers on my Cross Survivor are actually worn to the color white).

Attackers in plastics seem to have the worst run of Clownsuit, really... Defense and Survival can usually at least pull off matching tones, unless you don't have any random booster recolors of Draciel parts.

If I find my Dranzee V2 stickers, do you want them?

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Hazel - Feb. 29, 2012

I don't see any reason to turn them down, at the very least! Mine would probably still look right classy with a new set of stockings.

There is still the purpose of getting a second one so I can use the hell out of my old Cross Dranzer, but either way!

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Janstarblast - Feb. 29, 2012

Even I can't look at a plastic bey without decals. Smile
But still I can't stop using them!
Ah, Dranzer V2...
Probably my third favorite plastic(aesthetically), preceded only by the heavenly Dragoon V2 and Zeus. Joyful_2
Lucky you……

RE: Plastics General Discussion - th!nk - Feb. 29, 2012

I have now taken to scanning my stickers before applying them, however I only started this recently, a little too late.

Mc Frown, you should scan your spare sticker sheets and post them, if you are able, I'm sure a few people would appreciate it, including myself Smile

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Cye Kinomiya - Feb. 29, 2012

I'll look for them. Also, I'm quite the opposite. I don't like stickers on my beys.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Poseidon - Feb. 29, 2012

Sticker look terrible on MFB, on HMS and plastic for me there must haves, driger MS is OK without hte stickers on though.

I'll try I guess.

Mint sticker sheets I have:
Wolborg (Normal and PF)
Flash leopard (Fukobaku Box)
Bearing Gyro Magical Balancer
Draciel S
Driger S
Dranzer S
Salamolyon
Bound Attacker
Wing Defenser (BBA Championship)
Tyrpio (Purple)
Rushing Boar (Red)
Dragoon G (Blue)
Dranzer F
Gaia Dragoon S (Red)
Galeon
Bistool
Hasbro stickers of the 4 Bit Beasts/Let it Rip! etc.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Hazel - Mar. 01, 2012

After taking a look at my Cross Dranzer, I'm astonished... it looks like it's in absolute mint condition, but I have used the living hell out of that thing.

th!nk, I'm assuming the Cross Survivor SP goes on a Cross Griffon custom that likely involves Customize Grip's tip...

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Janstarblast - Mar. 01, 2012

Why why, probably the brilliant blue hides all signs of wear and tear! The Phoenix probably hides its wounds instead of instantly healing them (as shown I'm the anime).
That's one thing which makes me love Dranzers; even after too much of use, if the stickers are intact, then they still look as good as new!

Hah, no, my main attacker is significantly more aggressive, complicated, and expensive, and has even less consistent colours (purple, red, blue and yellow-orange).
Eh, ceebs keeping it quiet any more, even if I plan to have a tournament soon:

th!nk's favouritest combination (IN TECHNICOLOR!):
AR: Dragon Breaker (Gaia Dragoon V)
SAR: War Bear SAR (Galzzly)
WD: Wide Defense
SG: Left SG (Bearing Version 2) (Wolborg 2)
SP: Cross Survivor (Dranzer V2)
BB: Customize Bearing Base (Burning Kerberous)
Tip: SG Grip Change Base (Ariel 2)

My Cross Griffon is on SG Metal Flat 2, the combo in the Griffolyon article (though I currently have a 10 Wide on it: all my wide defences are in use). As much as I love the AR, there are more powerful options on Ariel 2's tip, where recoil isn't a big issue.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Hazel - Mar. 01, 2012

Ahh. I just figured you'd have a 4-sided AR on a 4-sided SP. Actually, with the right color Griffolyon, it all would look pretty nice together...

Grip Base is my hardest recoil-reducer, but it can't hold SP, and I also don't want to wear it down just screwing around, given the near impossibility of locating them for anything affordable. I've also got Storm Grip, Customize Grip, and whatever Dragoon V's thing is called, but yeah.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - th!nk - Mar. 01, 2012

Well, that AR setup is kinda four sided. More two-sided though.

I could put that together, but my CGB is in this combo, which is effective, and one I will lend out at the tournament I'm planning when I have money.

AR: Eight Spiker
WD: 10 Wide
SG: Neo Left MG Core
SP: Reverse Attack SP
BB: Customize Grip Base

Reverse Attack SP are quite decent, to be honest, they don't do that much damage (they do do some sometimes) but they also don't introduce the huge amount of recoil that comes with Fin Tectors.

Yeah, well, Ariel 2's tip is kinda like MSUV is supposed to be, once you use it, it's painful to not use it.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to lend out grip base at my tournament. Not only because of wear, but because I don't know if anyone will actually be able to control it.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - Hazel - Mar. 01, 2012

Eight Spiker looks funny and I don't really like Smash enough to use something ugly, lol. Plus, left spin etc.

Really, out of an SP, I kind of figure the best to aim for is "a little better weight distribution that doesn't inherently stick the family pig".

I have no real trouble controlling Grip Base, though... it's pretty user-friendly, for the speed you get out of it. Not really sure what combo I'd ever use it for... maybe Triple Tiger or Cross Griffon on it. The combo it came in(Wide Defense and Triple Wing) is obviously also good, but as I mentioned before, really nice looking Trygle AR difficult find etc.

RE: Plastics General Discussion - th!nk - Mar. 01, 2012

Eight Spiker is one of my favourite AR's in terms of aesthetics, and it exemplifies the "Dragoon" style.

Yeah, I guess, but on a taller base it can be useful to have some extra power. Survivor Ring is fantastic for that, though, as it has both a good weight distribution and some additional attack power, but it's only for 3-sided AR's.

Yeah, the combo I am thinking of lending out is Triple Wing/10 Wide/Grip Base. I'll think about it. I really want some strong competition (hence there's a zombie and a Wolborg 4 combo in the pool, and I will balance the "teams" of three-four beys (depending on how many people I have to lend to) nicely. There might be more beys in it if I decide not to use some of my 9 main combos... Yes I have 9 combinations I rely on, I like to be prepared. I can see not using three of them, though (compact, weight-based defender, and a left-spin spiral change base combo).

Also, Wing Upper (Flame Pegasus) works nicely in wolborg 4 combos. It can shut down a good zombie better than a lot of AR's with 10 Balance. It's not quite tiger defenser (that said, Tiger Defenser is arguably the best AR ever made), it's a bit larger and has more recoil I think, but it has fantastic weight distribution and also looks bloody fantastic. It's not well known, but it is one of the better AR's. For example, if you have a compact and are considering using Panther Claw, Wing Upper is generally a better choice, as it's slight upper is more useful than smash in compact setups and it still has some smash, AND better stamina. Let's be honest, there's a reason Takara put that AR on a gyro beyblade.
