That's right, Nintendo are stepping up once again for their games. There are some good ones coming out for both Wii and DS. Here are some trailers.

Review and comment. Smile

Also, these are on one thread since there was no point in doing a thread for each one and this way I (or anyone else) can update it when need be.

RE: Nintendo step up - Zander Soulwind - Jun. 02, 2009

I think the New super Mario Bros for the wii might be a little fun if anything.

How on earth did you watch them so fast?

i was watching the conference live

RE: Nintendo step up - To - Jun. 02, 2009

I don't expect Galaxy 2 this year, or even most of next year.

RE: Nintendo step up - Zander Soulwind - Jun. 02, 2009

Some will most properly be late this year or sometime in next year but who knows.

Here is another one which doesn't have any gameplay but we will over look that.

Also Brad, fair enough.

RE: Nintendo step up - Kei - Jun. 02, 2009

New Super Mario Bros Wii - I was surprised that this wasn't a game for WiiWare. It was pivotal that they did something new with this game than simply a new Mario with more enemies or new abilities, the first NSMB was probably amazing for those who had never played a Mario game before, but it didn't really add anything worthwhile for veterans aside from the major graphical upgrade. The co-op mode is going to add a lot to this game.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Did not see this one coming. Looks great though.
Metroid Other M - Surprising as well!
Red Steel 2 - Not sure if this was shown at their conference (wasn't able to watch it live), but it was mentioned, and it looked slick at the Ubisoft conference last night.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again - I loved the DS game. This isn't enough to make me want to buy a DSi yet though haha
Wii Fit Plus, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Vitality Sensor - These three will be the main factors in helping keep the momentum going for Nintendo in the "casual" audience on the Wii. Sweet.

Overall, an excellent conference for Nintendo. I think they filled the needs of a lot of gamers. It was, however, surprising that neither Zelda nor Pikmin, or even a new IP made an appearance. The fact that Motion+ wasn't heavily promoted by new games that would make use of it was disturbing as well, but announcements of Motion+ exclusive games could be coming later in the year, so I'm not worried.

NO

Loving the look of Metroid M, but other than that I've just given up on Nintendo.

RE: Nintendo step up - To - Jun. 02, 2009

The vitality thing really ruined a lot of the show for me. It's going to tank hard too.

I don't understand how it ruined the conference for you; you've stated that there were other games that interested you, so does it matter if something else does not interest you? For example, Golden Sun DS doesn't interest me (right now. I have never played the original haha), but I don't say it ruined the show for me.

RE: Nintendo step up - Roan - Jun. 02, 2009

Golden Sun DS was honestly their only announcement that meant a damn to me. I loved the first two games on GBA to death and played them religiously.

Metroid? Meh, looked like Ninja Gaiden in space. NSMB Wii? FFS they were using the same sprites as the DS game. Wii Fit Plus is a typical Nintendo rehash/cash in so I wasn't at all surprised to see that. The Vitality Sensor is just... Bizarre. I can't think of any practical applications for a game using that peripheral. I really hope it never sees the light of day.

I'm really surprised they're making a sequel to Mario Galaxy (not that that's a bad thing -- I really loved the original). It's just strange... Why would they make a sequel instead of doing an all-new Mario game like they traditionally have? SMG2 just looks like more of the same SMG and I'm not so sure that's going to be enough for me personally.

Not that it really matters I guess, I'm sure it will still sell 54758934795873489573489573489583495 copies simply because it has Mario in the title and is on a Nintendo platform.

Because it is the dumbest video game related first party peripheral I have ever seen. I can't see how it has anything to do with video games. Hell I can't even see who it's being aimed at. I can atleast see who they're aiming Golden Sun, and jank like Wii Fit +, and Sports Resort. Honestly, it reminds me of those things that the doctor gives to people who need to check their blood pressure.

Oh, I can't see how the hell they are going to integrate it into a gaming experience either, but I am sure that Nintendo has some ideas, or else they wouldn't be making it! It will obviously be marketed to an audience similar to the people who enjoy Wii Fit.

do you work for nintendo PR or something because the absolute agreement with everything nintendo does in all of your posts is seriously starting to irritate me on a very deep level

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on Nintendo's conference.

RE: Nintendo step up - Bey Brad - Jun. 02, 2009

HAHAHAHA they weren't on stage!?

RE: Nintendo step up - Pich - Jun. 03, 2009

I'm so angry at nintendo......we see many new, awesome games that I'm excited for at E3 and then there's Nintendo (besides Metroid, which looks okay, I'm sad that it isn't an FPS, though) >.>
I quit being a nintendo fanboy. :\
Woooo! Project Natall(sp) and Assassin's Creed 2.

RE: Nintendo step up - Roan - Jun. 03, 2009

Assassin's Creed 2 looks really amazing.

I'm kind of surprised they demoed it at Sony's conference, but whatever. I'm definitely getting that game.

RE: Nintendo step up - Crimson - Jun. 03, 2009

I absolutely love Metroid (But not so fond of the Prime games), so "Other M" looks utterly fantastic for me.
Mario Galaxy 2 put a smile on my face.
Flipped my carp over Golden Sun DS (As the original two on GBA were amazing)

Other than those titles, I feel the conference was fairly 'meh'.
Though I'm glad those titles were announced.

Haha, no, I do not! "Absolute agreement"? Hardly.

I mentioned that Nintendo needed to do something new with NSMB Wii, which implies that I was discontent with NSMB for the DS. This is not absolute agreement. I didn't expand on my thoughts of SMG2, but I am fearful of it being too similar to the original game. This is not absolute agreement. Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again is apparently basically the same game as the DS one, which is not the way Nintendo should be going; they should be adding some sort of new gameplay element to encourage players of the previous game to buy the new one. This is not absolute agreement. I am also highly skeptical about how useful the Wii Vitality Sensor will be without any specific software announced for it. Like I said though, they must have something to give a meaningful purpose to the sensor, or else they would not be releasing it. This is not absolute agreement.

I also expressed some disappointment in the last blurb there, concerning the fact that they failed to unveil a new IP that will please "hardcore" gamers. This is something they really need to do imo.

Please don't think that I am in absolute agreement with everything that Nintendo does; because I'm not, I just really enjoy the good things that Nintendo has done for the industry, which are plentiful this generation. I should have elaborated on my thoughts though, sorry! Unhappy

Don't they have some extra content available by linking the PSP game with ACII for PS3 or something? Maybe they demoed it there so they could mention that.

RE: Nintendo step up - Pich - Jun. 03, 2009

I liked the Prime series much more than the others, so I guess it's just personal preferance. I'll probably never get to play the game anyway. :\
Still, I was looking forward to that Wii Zelda game and Kirby game they said were in development back in like 2006-7.........they really need to catch up to the other two systems. And damnit, I want a new Custom Robo and Pokemon RPG(wii) already (and a Metroid or Custom Robo online Wii game). They haven't done much new for the past 6 years with their main series............I want something awesome and new, not the same thing over and over but with better graphics. They get rather boring the tenth time you play them.
Mehhh, I'm dissappointed.

There's no online, according to Jeff Gerstmann's Twitter, who was just at a Q&A with Miyamoto:

"jeffgerstmann No online in New SMB Wii. (Nothing to report on the WiiSpeak support front, either.)"
