Chapter 1
"Hah! Take that!"
I felt a vibration, and his bey smashed mine. But I should probably introduce myself first.
I'm Horu, a 12-year-old blader. I'm what you people would call blind. But that never stopped me from blading. No, not from what I recall.
My best friend, Nero, has been blading since he was four, and he's really good at it, too. He always helps me with my blading techniques, and whenever a new part comes out, he gets a sample and lets me feel it, then tells me the name of the part, so that I know what part it is when I battle an opponent who owns that part. He also always battles me, so my skills always improve. But back to the battle now. I'm in the finals of the Qualifications tournament for my city, so if I win, I'll represent my city in the countrywide tourney, Shi no Tatakai.
"Go, Lacerta! Lizard Barrage!"
I felt his bey, Poison Lacerta D125F, speed around the stadium like mad. I have this technique of feeling the vibrations of the ground so that I can know what's happening in the battle.
"Dodge it, Horuseus!", I shouted. My bey, Bakuban Horuseus E145RB, lunged to the right, making Lacerta lose the stamina it invested into that attack. My opponent, Waru, frowned. His face hardened. He knew what was coming.
"GO, HORUSEUS! COUNTERSTRIKE!", I shouted mercilessly. I felt Horuseus dance around the stadium, then make a spiral pattern, and finally, smash Waru's bey into the sky. Then Horuseus dashed upwards and smacked Lacerta's underside.
There was a flash of yellow and green, and Blader DJ shouted, "The winner is..."

Wow. Talk about a new twist in ideas! A blind blader...hmmm...I'm interested. I'll be checking back often.

".....Horu!"
A roar of cheer rose from the audience, and I smiled. For some strange reason, almost every time I win, the crowd goes super crazy. It must be because I'm blind.
"Congratulations, Horu! You will advance to Shi no Tatakai to represent our city, Goma!" Suddenly, Horu felt a hand on his shoulder, and someone whispered something to him. "Horu, please proceed to the mayor's office at five o'clock sharp.", the man said. He was probably a WBBA arbiter. Then the hand left, and I heard the audience cheer again.
The day flowed smoothly after. I signed some photographs (yes, I can write), some crazy fangirls trampled me, Nero congratulated me, and everything seemed to be fine.
Little did I know that when I walked to the mayor's office late afternoon, my life would change forever.
