half the time a 'bad joke' is made, an argument always occurs on whether it was necessary/appropriate.

No dude, it's really good.
I thought the exact same thing going into it, but I really enjoyed it. The musical aspect of the film truly makes it fun and entertaining to watch.
And of course, Tim Burton's excruciatingly disturbing sense of humor. lol
